Hey folks!

It’s been a pretty long time since I last sat down to talk with y’all.
And I’ve got a lot of things to say, tonight.

One is that I need to apologize for making us all change our bookmarks and logins to move to Fluffy-Community

Have you ever had life throw so much at you that you needed to cut out some projects to keep yourself sane?
Yeah, that happened to me.
And FluffyCommunity was my Passion Project

When other needs outweighed that Passion I needed to walk away

Am I back?
Well, yeah, in some capacity, I am.
I am absolutely not running Everything Fluffy anymore,
as I was for a while
(Goddamn that was a tiring time, but I needed to have that experience, and to learn from it.)

But I like keeping this community afloat.
I like seeing the creativity that everyone brings to the group
I like to see that kind of Passion in the works that you all create

It keeps me going.

Tonight I’ve got a question to bring before the community
I want you to understand that we may need to choose a path that runs contrary to the outcome of this vote
But I believe it’s important to hear what the users of Fluffy-Community think of these options.

I’m sure you’ve tried to log on at particular times of the day, and found that it takes for-fucking-ever for F-C to load.
It’s not just you, it’s happening to all of us.
It’s a problem we want to fix,
but to be quite honest, the current problem is funding.

After speaking with a number of our members, we’ve considered two possibilities

1: we run ads on the website.
Nearly every other site does. Even the people on our staff agree that these should be ads that can be easily blocked.
But the trickle of income from those folks who cannot/do not block the ads could be very helpful to keeping our little corner of the internet alive and available.

2: Patreon
I think most of the people here are fans of some creator, some group, or some cause. I think a lot of us donate to these sorts of actions semi-regularly.
(We’re PATRONS of THE ARTS goddammit!)

In this model, we would ask for donations.
At the very bottom of each page, we might have a link to a place where you could drop a dollar or two into a cup
We will make these donations as anonymous as we reasonably can

  • Ads: I would prefer having ads on F-C
  • Patreon: I would donate when I could afford to
  • Fuck you, Virgil
  • I have a different idea (share it in the Comments)

I personally would prefer the donations route. And for there to be an option to donate every once in a while when we want to, not only Patreon where you have to sign up to pay regularly.

I remember when you only just made the website, there was a time where we could donate and get a badge for it. Maybe something like this could be done a few times a year or so.

I think ads would be disruptive and spoil the enjoyment of the website. It’s nice to have a website for once which doesn’t have them when most these days do.

On that note, we have made some changes to alleviate that problem, if anybody’s still, currently, as of this moment, getting issues with emails, please let me know.

i will tell you how this will go, everyone will say patreon and it will go good for a month or two then it will dry up, so cut out the middleman and just go straight to adds. the community is still to small to have a steady donation stream you would have to offer something extra from patreon you might want to expand the question to what benefits would people want for their donation

Wanted to vote “Fuck you Virgil” just for the bants but my vote is for patreon.

Considering all my youtube stuff uses work from this community. I’d be a dick not to at least throw in a bit of cash a month.

I have a question!

If there were ads on site, where would they be placed exactly?

Also, I would implement both options.
Now before you murder me, let me explain.

Have you ever played a free to play mobile game?

Sometimes there is an option to get stuff if you willingly watch an ad. I like that.

Just put two buttons at the bottom of each page, text explaining why they are there, and let people either donate to Patreon if they have the money to do so or watch ads willingly to support the site.

This would keep the site relatively the same but add 2 options for people to support the site financially.

i dont have garneted money to give every month. but if there was a way i could let my computer idle on some ads or as i flick through i ignore the adds that pop up and let the money trickle in, i’d be happy to turn off adblock for this sight as long as the ads arent intrusive.
heck the ad space may lead to funny in jokes, like how roblox will show an ad they made for funsies on occasion instead of the usual ads, like an Easter egg!

Honestly would be down for either route. I’ve stated a few times that I’d rather put $5/month towards this place than spending on some other stupid frivolous thing, so donations would be ideal for m, but I understand that ads might be the answer here.

I think ads were be the safer option, it might be annoying at first depending on placement, but it’ll mean a steadier flow of income to keep this site running.

If possible go for both option, have ads on the site to get a baseline income, then set up a patreon for anyone looking for bonus content. That way people can still contribute to the site through the ads and can opt-in and out of patreon without feeling obligated to keep FC up and running.

(Not that anyone would feel obligated but if the site is reliant on patreon alone then one bad turn of the market and people would have to focus their finances elsewhere, leaving FC in the dark)
