A nation needs defense and the Royal Army fills that roll well. What began as the acient herds settled was a pact to defend lands form outside threats of Goblin raids and Orc incersions, over the centuries evolved into a formal army sworn to the ruling nobles and finally to the royal family.
Commands: The Royal Army maintains a force of 200,000 split between three military districts North, West, and South with most concentrated to the Western district against Orc and Goblin raids.
Recuritment: To replace losses either from battle or mustering out the Royal Army recurits from the civillian and noble population. However, if families cannot pay their taxes they may give up one of their foals for defense of the realm. These "Orphans," find family in their borthers and sisters that they train, eat, and bleed with.
Equipment: Arms and armor keep an army at the edge of combat effectiveness. Standard armerment being swords, bows, crossbows, and shields. More elite and veteran units have a better selection of arms avialable. Armor can range from simple leather armor for conscripts to full sets of runic plate mail for the Royal Guard.
Logistics: The ability to keep troops supplied and on the move is very difficult without a good infrastructure backing it up. Good roads and supply depots dot the land at stragtic locations with major crossroads being military hubs and traders plying their wares to troops marching back and forth to their posts.
The Royal Guard: Loyal to the death the Royal Guard are sworn protectors to the Alicorn line. The best equipped, best trained, and fanitaicly loyal, the Royal Guard were slaughtered to the fluffy by the Smarty King. There rumors that there is one who escaped the destruction of the Royal Family with a young prince but those are just rumors.

Fluffies
