July Theme Week, 2022
Back to Basics
The first generation
Hey Folks,
Welcome to July.
If you aren’t yet gay, or at least trans-curious after this last month then you’re!!! ….
…well then you’re pretty heteronormal.
And there’s not actually anything wrong with that.
It’s a status you share with perhaps 90% of the world’s population, right now.
(It would be unfair to worship one for a month without mentioning the other for a moment. )
I’m fully aware that we’re over-represented in these other camps, but I’m not about to go in and start tossing people out simply because they’re weird.
We’re Weird.
Every damn one of us is weird
And that’s what makes this a fun ride.
Though we didn’t make a big deal about it, we did recently celebrate a birthday of the Fluffy Community.
Fluffies have now been a topic for a full ten years
They’re such a controversial topic that **they’ve been tossed out of 109 countries
Today I’m going to ask nearly all of you to consider a storyline that you’ve never paid much attention to.
As a group, we’ve taken it “as read” that A Political Activist Team*
heard from “a friend” that there was a new atrocity to fight…
A Biological…Toy…
*Yes, APAT is the new name we’re recommending using so we can avoid retaliatory lawsuits. Please adjust your stories accordingly. I’m sorry the world sucks.
If you’re dead-set that you absolutely must use the name of an existing, litigious corporation, then go ahead.
**There might be slight exaggeration in this line
A few angry people got dressed up in black clothes and raided the fluffy project compound
It was a minimum security facility, so even the late night security guard had fallen asleep in his chair.
A team of twenty-ish dark-clad intruders burst through the front doors of Hasbro’s subsidiary Has-Bio laboratory with a mission on their minds.
They’re going to free these poor defenseless creatures
They’re separated into pens based on their maturity level
They find perhaps a hundred creatures in various states of life.
There are chirpies
and mature fluffs
and soon-mummahs
(you know this because these are some of the words they know)
There are also old fluffs hooked to machines that are keeping them alive.
You want to save them all
They’re breathing, and looking at you, and reaching out to you
How does this buckle work? Why won’t this cage unlock??!!
It takes some fighting, but you get most of the fluffies out of their cages
They’re pawing at your legs incessantly.
When you move one way, they follow
A tiny voice gives a shrill screech
You ……you didn’t mean to step on the fluffy
It was an accident
Oh the poor thing…
You’ve got to get them out of here!
Ultimately, APAT extracted 85 fluffies from the facility. (give or take)
Half were left on a busy street corner in the nearest city (Cleveland, OH)
And the other half were dumped out in rural North Carolina
Some fluffies understand numbers up to 10.
Fluffies have to learn words from an outside source
None of them have names.
(This is why awarding a fluffy a name is so important.)
Before this point, we lived in a world devoid of Fluffies.
There was no such thing as a Bio-Toy
And before this point
fluffies also had no idea what was outside the walls.
They were too dumb to realize there were walls
But when the walls were taken out of the equation…it seemed to lead to lots of mutations
Your mission;
Should you choose to accept it
is to tell me a story about recently-released, socially innocent bio-toys
Guidelines:
When writing about this era, remember that we’re super-early in the fluffy timeline.
Most fluffies wouldn’t have any idea what foods might be helpful or harmful
My own headcanon says these fluffies started with incredibly short munchkin-esque legs
It’s also my headcanon that fluffies would mutate and grow over time.
This event celebrates those original (stumpy) fluffies
For this competition we’re looking for stories about that Original Generation.
The fluffies that were scooped up in the middle of the night, and dropped into strange places
Before they were trapped and bred
Before they were commoditized
You Choose which environment you want to tell a story in:
Urban or Rural
Keep in mind that this is a time long before litterpals
or enfie pals
or even the word “enfie”
This might even be the time when the tribes create their language.
Or it might be Fluffies as a New Vermin
You choose your path
Winning:
For the first time ever,
we’re going to keep score.
This is a rule designed to call our old-timers back and give them something decent to read.
(and it also forces me to read when I haven’t been reading)
Your story will be read and judged by the criteria layed forth in previous paragraphs.
A Poll will be introduced to keep track of scores.
Most of you have noticed that you now have more emotes to assign to a work or a comment,
I want to allow all of you to decide how good or bad these are,
apart from one.
I want you to understand that the response is the worst thing you can say about a work or a comment.
It is quite literally meant to say
“Take this shit back to Reddit”
Full Disclosure:
yes I do oversee the subreddit.
I’m now too busy to watch it every minute.
Good people are still watching it
Yes Reddit really is the Kiddie-Pool of FC
Read that again.
We do need more good people on our Reddit team
Also
If you ever ask for power you will immediately go to the back of the line
I hope that clears up all your questions.
If you’re ever told to go back to Reddit:
That’s all up to you.
The response is intended as a way to say “Step up your game”
You can take it as an insult if you want to
You can run off and swear to only post on the other place.
But it’s still just us.
Same people, a little more anonymity, a little less organization, but the reddit members are pretty much all here.
If you’re mad at me,
message me
It’s rare that I talk to someone and fail to find common ground.
But I hope you can tell me a story, instead
