Story is a scifi… Make any of the Gundam series… But focus it on Fluffies whom are doing work for either Federation, or Zeon… Cant be pilots… But whatever the fluffies do… Has mixed results.

I could see them being popular colony pets in UC. Small and relatively easy to care for, totally non predatory I like cats and dogs (so they wouldn’t screw up whatever artificial ecosystem they had), the talking would be very appealing in general, and it could be assumed that they could be engineered to thrive with low gravity and whatever was the most practical to feed them.
