I remember when this was being posted the first time and the wait between panels had quite a few people hoping for alternate endings.

I think sufficient stress can be lethal to a foal.

You know how fragile an adult fluffy is, and foals are even more fragile.

I like to think that the exertion of scratching at the dirt coupled with the frantic breathing meant that the foal clogged his own airway trying to get out and depleted the oxygen in his blood. I present this as evidence of fluffy stupidity; moronbox at its most ironic.

This is a really solid first comic. The situation was fucked for the foal but the death from panicking/suffocating behind dirt was refreshing.

Besides, I was thinking more along the lines of non-human caused death (replace burned at the stake with burned alive in general)
