Dumb question, what happens if you join a group? I’m not apart of any groups I don’t think, I don’t know anything about groups. What is the significance of the different groups existing?
Are groups like, “filters” to sift out stupid retarded stuff like porn or politics or whatever so that stuff doesn’t show up in the normal site feed unless you subscribe to the group, or? If I joined the “shitpost” group would I start to see all sorts of dumb creepy shit on my feed or what?

Groups are indeed how different elements of the community are filtered from common view.
Joining the shitposting group is mainly just going to show you…well…shitposts such as Mcgee using satire in an attempt to control website policy and swearing up and down that he’s super serious.
You can always leave the group if you don’t like what you see.
