Great update! Looking like my hope of Miss Lady Bell turning out to have some bad genetic markers making her …sadly unsuitable for fluffy breeding may be on the money. A shame for the pink foal who’s obviously done nothing to deserve such a miserable start in life- but if it gives an out for Loretta keeping Lady Bell, it may prove worth it. I’m not gonna dunk on Loretta but there’s a reason why its not a good idea to date around in your line of work. Too many exes are just like Devon- willing and able to haul out that baggage right when you’re just trying to get a shitpig an x-ray. Also interesting backstory with him and Trixie, especially since he sounds like the sort of guy that thinks he’s a lot smarter than he is, so that’s a nice little firecracker of a secret waiting to go off. Loretta is clearly smart enough to know better than to leave an abuser ( especially the sort of abuser that clearly puts his hatred of fluffies above things like property laws ) alone with a fluffy too, which is a nice change of pace.
Trixie keeps being an A-tier level fluffy momma- able and willing to throw hands ( er, hooves ) when needed but knows how to balance caring for a whole cadre of foals even if one requires a little extra help. Some human parents aren’t able to do half as well!

The two had actually met during school. They’re in similar fields. He’s in medicine, and she’s in behavioural modification/studies.
Devon used to be not so goddamn bad, or at least, he was really good at hiding it. It ended up leaking into their relationship, and he really decided that torturing fluffies was better than, I don’t know, watching a movie with his girlfriend, or gettin’ his cock sucked. Man coulda’ had so much, and he chose the quick satisfaction of just dunking on biotoys.

Ohh Devon. What a loser. Imagine having a steady girlfriend and all you had to do was just normal relationship things but no, gonna lose it all so you can spend your free time reenacting Saw on a budget with fluffies.
What’s worse is now Loretta knows ( and might share the knowledge with other fluffy owners she’s friends with ) that the vet clinic in question is no longer a place where she can safely leave a fluffy overnight. And I don’t think its even just for Loretta’s fluffies, Devon doesn’t seem to have the sense to hold back on any helpless fluffy.
OTOH if say, Lady Bell outlived her usefulness and there was an opportunity to set things up so that her unfortunate overnight stay would not just be her last, but also videotaped for the vet owner’s viewing later… just saying. Two birds, one stone.
