Absolutely they’re happier, but they don’t connect their genitals to a sense of identity, know what it means not to have a full set, etc. Also, not always! If you neuter a cat before puberty they become lethargic and depressed for the rest of their lives.

Maybe I’m coming at this from a weird angle because I’m childfree and genderqueer, but I’m one of the rare humans who actually would enjoy getting rid of their parts (difficult to get it approved, alas), so I could believe it if a fluffy found out they like being fixed better. They can still play with other fluffies’ babbehs at fluffy daycare and not have to do all the gross boring bits, at least

That is an interesting viewpoint. Personally I think pretty much anybody I know would be horrified to lose their fun parts, and I can’t help but project that onto fluffies.

Plus, in gibs, you run a greater risk of urinary crystals due to the penis (and thus the urethra) failing to grow to adult size. I’ve seen it happen, and it’s miserable. (Feline penectomies aren’t cheap.)

It never really occurred to me how weird it is to castrate a sentient creature. Taking away a human beings ability to have sex and procreate would be viewed as evil. But with fluffies, who are about as smart as kindergarteners, it’s considered a necessary evil to curb population. But even if you can explain to them why you’re doing it, they aren’t actually smart enough to really understand why.
