Hitting her just makes her see you as the bad guy for not giving her what she feels she’s owed, you gotta make her see that she’s in the wrong and is being punished for it.
While I agree that this is the optimal approach, a more direct method would be to beat her repeatedly until her spirit’s broken (not her body, there’s a distinction), at which point she’ll be too terrified to act out again.
