Yeah, the freaks of nature who refuse to accept the facts of life and biology itself aren’t causing any damage to society. Suuuuuuure.
Incorrect.
The problem is, some people won’t admit that we need to call people out for being asocial abnormal freaks of nature. But we do. Or else we encourage it. That’s how you get furries and troons grooming kids.
In many cases, though, the people claiming they’re being bullied are themselves crybullies-- people who elicit others’ sympathy in order to shut down legitimate criticism. This is especially common with people like Xander. They will go as far as to threaten you with death, repeatedly; they will smear you to your friends, dox you, lie about you, even assault you; all while repeatedly trying to bait you into responding in kind-- and then the moment they receive pushback, they’re suddenly being targeted for no reason by this horrible person (you) who just hates them because they’re right and good and just and how could anyone do this to them they’re just the most persecuted person in history fjsjghjdf
The worst part is that crybullying is pretty normalized. It’s fairly acceptable at this point to accuse people of doing things they didn’t actually do to garner yourself attention-- and even looked upon favorably to destroy the lives of anyone who doesn’t fit in by claiming they’re a bully. This is how bullies work now: they pretend to be the victim.
Personally, I preferred it when the bully would just beat you up and take your lunch money. At least that way everybody knew who was doing what. For this reason, I’m not particularly interested in playing the “but you could be hurting someone’s feelings and traumatizing them!!” game. Everybody gets hurt. It doesn’t give us the right to be horrible to others-- just the opportunity.
If someone on here really needs to talk to a stranger, they are welcome to message me. I say this regularly. But having a shitty week isn’t going to stop me from pointing out massively stupid behavior like refusing to accept criticism or language-policing.
I also mentioned, earlier in the thread, that the LGBT community has become a wreck due to not self-regulating. This is another reason I can’t just dismiss bullying as “that mean thing popular people do that traumatizes lonely people =(”. A little bit of bullying would have gone a long way to stop things like Tucutes and DQSH and MAP pride from taking root. It turns out that when given a perfectly safe place to “express themselves” freely, without worry of judgment, people can really come up with some insanely unpleasant things.
