Pablo Chapter 2 [By MostlyNeutralbox]

Chapter 2

Adam was beaming as he brought home Pablo’s friend. She was perfect; black and white as opposed to Pablo’s brown and white. She’d been named Ruth. It was going to be odd to have a male and female pair. They were likely to be special friends, which Adam was very much prepared for. Hell, the Mill even wanted it. They were both natural colors. If it happened…it happened. Luckily Adam was reading up everything the Mill had about Angora fluffs. He felt like one of those first time fluffy owners, despite working with them for years. He knew more about fluffies than most owners…yet angora fluffs were a subspecies of their own. Not too much was known about this line. Adam was making it his business to know more about than that just grooming.

He couldn’t hide his joy when he came into the door. Most of the apartment was open to his fluff, other than a couple baby gates that prevented Pablo from going where he wans’t meant to. What areas he could get to were lightly fluffy proofed. Adam lived pretty cheaply, honestly.

Pablo hopped up to his smiling daddeh. “Daddeh!” He cried, then titled his head, his big ears flopping over. “Daddeh am happies?”

“Very happy, Pablo. I’ve gotten you a friend!” He set Ruth down.

“Fwuffy am Wuth!” Ruth exclaimed. She went to Pablo, and gave him a hug.

“Fwuffy am Pabwo! Wuv nyu fwiend Wuth!” Pablo said, hugging his new friend back.

Adam had debated whether to introduce her as a sibling or a friend, but in the end decided it would be better to have her as a friend. He also didn’t want to confuse Pablo. He knew the difference between siblings and friends, as well as it would make things more complicated when and if they developed feelings for each other.

For now, he enjoyed the warm fuzzies of making Pablo happy and watched his two angora fluffies. Pablo was giving her the grand tour around the apartment. It was a short tour, as the fluffy things were all that mattered, but Pablo was enthusiastic. “Dis is wut daddeh caww ‘wivin woom’. Teebee an pway woom awe hewe!” Pablo showed Ruth the TV and the play area he had. Plenty of toys strewn around, but not messy. “Dat am witta box.” He pointed out the litter box, which was more pellets than fluffy litter. Regular fluffy litter stuck to their fur. Not that Adamn tested it. It could just be a scam to make people buy more fluffy specific items. He could see it getting stuck, though. These fluffies had to be groomed specifically so they didn’t get poop or pee stuck in their fur.

Adam followed the fluffies to watch the tour. It was adorable.

First was the kitchen. “Dis whewe daddeh gib nummies!” Pablo said excitedly. “Nummies am su gud!”

Ruth perked up. “Nummies?” She asked.

Pablo waddled over to the food bowl, and pointed to his bowl, which had his name on the side. “Dis am Pabwo’s boww!”

Adam smiled, and put down a second bowl, which he’d bought earlier. It was bought in preparation of another angora fluffy. “This is Ruth’s. I’ll get her name on it soon.”

Ruth looked touched. “Wuth get speshul boww?” She asked.

Adam patted her head. “Of course. You both have your own bowl just for you.” He said. He knew why it was a surprise; in the Mill, they fed them from a trough.

Pablo pointed to a closed door. “Dat am baf woom. It were daddeh does poopies and peepees. And baff time in dewe.” He shivered, which Ruth did too. Angora fluffs weren’t petrified of baths, but they weren’t a fan of water. They got waterlogged easily due to long, dense fluff. Although they should trust their owner during bathtime as any…well, as most fluffies should.

Pablo then hop waddled to the bedroom. “Dis am bedwoom. It whewe nesties awe!” He led the way into the carpeted room. Adam’s room was a soft beige color, though the lower part of the room had colored puzzle interlocking mats. A splash of color for his fluffies. There was also a nightlight, one indeed from the mill. It was a more plain one, as the character ones kinda freaked him out. The nest was an extra large bed meant for a fluffy couple. It had genuine fluffy fur. The fur was said to be donated…it was probably a lie. It had a heating pad underneath the bed and soft blankets. There was a litterbox in the corner farthest from the fluffy bed and the human bed. The bed was right by the human bed so they could alert Adam if anything was wrong. There were mostly soft toys in this room. Stuffie friends and the like. Adam had an enfie toy for when Pablo was older, but he was still too tiny to think of such things.

When the grand tour was over, Ruth and Pablo played in the living room. Adam took notes. They mostly played huggy tag, preferring to chase each other more than playing with actual toys. They also loved TV no matter the show, which meant Adam could chill with them. He pet the angora fluffies. Pablo was stretched over his lap, and Ruth beside him, leaning against his thigh. He pet them both softly, a brush nearby so he could get into the routine of brushing them. He put on some anime and after checking that it wasn’t something that would scar his fluffies for life, he began scrolling on his phone. He took a few pictures of the angora fluffies and put it on his new social media, talking up how cute the angora fluffies were. How they did best in pairs and would be documenting the journey.

This new social media was separate from his other, more private one. That one had…some level of fluffy abuse on it. He needed some outlet, after all. Working with fluffies day in and day out was enough to drive anyone mad. He’d seen the bad side of fluffies too much to be easily swayed. The angora fluffies just seemed so far removed from that.

He got to relax a few hours, and left the TV on so he could take a bath. It reminded him of the good ol days. Back when he had no adult responsibilities. Adam had just closed his eyes, thinking, but then heard two alarmed voices.

“DADDEH!!!”

Adam jolted, and looked over, seeing two horrified angora fluffs.

“Am daddeh otay!?” Pablo asked.

Ruth was dithering. “Daddeh! Nu! Be otay, daddeh!” She was hop pacing back and forth.

Oh. Right. Not a fan of water.

“Howd on, daddeh! Pabwo hewp!” Pablo backed up, ready to make a leaping charge.

Oh crap. Adam didn’t want to have to bath a fluffy too. “Hold on, you two. I’m perfectly fine.” He said hurriedly. “Daddeh is just cleaning himself.”

Both angora fluffies visibly relaxed to see their daddeh was just fine. Pablo fell on his rear, his back legs straight out. He looked relieved. He’d been prepared to jump in, but was glad he didn’t have to.

“Pabwo am su bwave!” Ruth claimed, and gave Pablo a kiss on the cheek.

Pablo’s leg thumped on the ground happily from the kiss. “Pabwo jus wan sabe daddeh…”

“Bu wawa am su scawy!” Ruth nuzzled her brave friend.

Adam smiled a bit. Good. They were getting along so well. Ruth already idolized Pablo, and he was glad to take a leadership role. “Alright, fluffs. Go play. Daddeh has to finish bathing.” He told the two. They waddle hopped away, presumably to the living room.

Dinner time rolled around, and Adam prepared a bowl for them. It was a little bit of kibble, with a lot of vegetables mixed in. He set the two bowls down, and had the fluffies wait for him to give the command to wait. It was only a few seconds, but it was so they knew he was in charge. Maybe leftover from when he had a dog as a kid. He let the two eat, and filmed it, the sound of the munching somewhat adorable.

Other than one incident the day had been uneventful…but wasn’t that a good thing while raising fluffies?

(This is a bit of a short upload, but I wanted to get it out there. What do you guys want in store for Pablo and Ruth?)

Honestly it’s being set up to be a comfortable life, I say keep it that way. Pablo and Ruth get together, have a couple kids, all’s well that humps well.

Maybe add in small drama here or there, like maybe Pablo is too scared to ask Ruth to be his special-friend, maybe one of their foals is stillborn, maybe even have Adam’s work ask to take the foals for research and Adam has to decide what the best course of action is.

The point being, this series has been warm so far, don’t be afraid to get chilly but don’t take away from the hugbox roots either.

I do want to keep this hugbox. I was just trying to think of what kind of drama would happen without making this go too dark.

A rebellious foal or two can add drama. Maybe an argument between the two fluffies. It doesn’t have to be violence and bloodshed to be dramatic.

Could have a story where, if they have kids, when they are weeded they are taken to the mill. Maybe have the parents come with to see them off and see old friends that haven’t gotten owners yet. The mill would probably use the whole thing for positive PR, “oh we are such a good mill that fluffies actually return to get their foals taken in to be adopted”. Of course this is really only true for the angora fluffs and other specialty breeds, regular fluffies would only be taken if they were good colors or had good pedigrees.

New favorite quote!

This is a really sweet series so far. I like how the fluffs are scared for their daddeh at “bafftime”. That was a nice touch!

Yup. Though they do offer owners a special price for beautiful foals made by fluffies they sold. Or even just a few eggs or sperm.
