Question's #7 - #8: Website vs. Reddit

Why does the website only have 1/10 of the users that Reddit does?
Why does the website seem to have little to no cancer and cringe as you would expect compared to Reddit?

Who’s Homeless Oreo? The name sounds familiar, but I can’t remember.

So true. They aren’t welcome.

all he does is jerk his hateboner for fluffies on neutralbox and sadbox posts (and abuse posts too of course), misspell simple things, repost the same 5 comics by the same 5 artists, and complain whenever ANY fluffy is spared from anything, calling it overused and unoriginal, and just being an annoying shithead

After reading that. I’m on the same boat with you. It well be a dark day if he joins. He sounds like a possible actual Abuser.

  1. There’s a theory that most of the users on the subreddit just can’t bring themselves to leave their precious reddit karma, and so never come here.

  2. For starters, a lot of the people on the subreddit are edgy teenagers, whom are known to post “cancer and cringe”, while us here seem to predominately of the “twenties or older” persuasion. Moreover, you’ve also got people like reddit user Huggiesandlove, who do nothing but repost art made by others over and over, and that is something you can’t really do on here.

either that or an edgy 13 year old who doesnt know how to shut the fuck up

If he does join, he well most likely be banned within a day. Is he banned on Reddit? I well be surprised if hes not.

I know he’s not banned, somehow.

Quote one is the answer to quote two. We’re a small community so there’s less egos and less anonymity . You run into the same people more often here than on the sub so we are nice to each other as a default.

  1. Reddit’s more familiar and mainstream. That has a big bearing on userbase size.

  2. I think Reddit, being large, inevitably has a number of strange and rude people who inevitably end up on the FC sub. But remember that before this site came up, and after the Booru went down, Reddit was a refuge for the fandom during the interim. I wouldn’t rip on Reddit.

I don’t think it’s jerking a hate boner. By the way I remember him talking, I think it’s an actual, real boner.
Edit, just to clarify: not saying every abuser to jerking off to abuse like it’s porn, just some very select people

  1. Reddit is an older site, and got the most attention from The Click’s videos.

@Newb_ronswek mentioned karma, and the sunk cost fallacy of losing all the “progress” they’ve made on the site is definitely a likely explanation.

Also, some old booru user’s haven’t come here because this isn’t as practical as the old booru, and instead seem to be waiting for someone to give them the site vital to the fandom better. I actually have an idea for a comic about how entitled that is.

  1. I’m more surprised why Reddit IS such a cancerous place. It seems pretty much every Redditor coming to any other sites is surprised by how nice literally any other place is. My theory is that because of Reddit’s culture of arbitrary censorship, anyone who’s into intelligent interactions with other people gives up on it, leaving only the glaring shitheads that would stand out like a sore thumb on a site with a more sensible userbase.
