And here’s the final part of the first Adventure of Bluey. I had been wanting to write a story similar to the Adventures of Tintin, and this was my attempt at it. This story does take place within the universe of the Sam Adams Guide, but it was also written as a means of setting up the eventual Jberg/Shadysmarty tribute chapter (which I’ll have to get to once I clear Nanowrimo this month).
As to why I wrote this set of stories, I would point out that events like @jberg360 's Fluffy Runner would not occur in a hugbox-ish unvierse like the Sam Adams Guide. In addition, the character of Captain Johann (aka Captain Marlin) started having an increased presence in the recent chapters, so I wanted to explore a bit more about his past before he became the retired captain first seen in Chapter 3 of the Guide.
I am tempted to write more adventures of Bluey, as this series was also an exercise in writing short, bite-size adventure themed stories based around an intelligent fluffy reporter. If I ever have the time after wrapping up The Guide or Avocado, I might do more stories with Bluey, though they would be set in their own universe, independent of the Guide. (Plus @Chikahiro drew a perfect Bluey in my humble opinion)
Additional notes:
- in keeping with the Tintin inspiration, I had deliberately avoided using common vulgarities/obscenities for this story. (though perhaps I should have incorporated Haddock’s practise of using random big words as percieved insults!)
- the Italian, Russian and Irish mobsters who rescued Nala’s family and ended the fluffy smuggling operation all belong to PinkestPug. I had a bit of fun weaving her characters into this story!
Summary
- Bluey in this story died at the age of 6 as he’s of the JBerg breed. If I ever do more stories with Bluey, he will not be this short-lived
- the story depicted how an event like Fluffy Runner would not take part in the Sam Adams Guide. The chapter itself may ask what would a character do if they had to face such a situation anyway
- there is one more story I’m planning thats based of Fluffy Runner. Its unrelated to this one, and I won’t get to it until December.
And with that, this is the last story I will be writing for November, as I will be focusing on Nanowrimo. I’ll still be around, as I’ll be posting some comments, reuploading some booru content and reuploading some Avocado work, but it’ll mostly be maintenance.
