We start out with a point, 0, then we extend it to a line, 1, then we extend the line into a flat space, 2, then extend that upwards to get the 3rd dimension, and if we extend all that diagonally, we get the 4th dimension, time.

Ah that makes sense! Knew the second and third, always thought our senses had something to do with the fourth, but had zero clue what the first would have been.

Not… quite. A tesserect is not a cube through time. When refering to dimensions, it’s space+time. For example, we live in 3+1 dimensions. 4+1 would be a standard hypercube, as it has an additional spatial dimension. I’d suggest checking out PBS Spacetimes video on it. Matt does a better job explaining it.
