I am Taiwanese and not very familiar with the Japanese Yakuza.

Nana’s character was not inspired by any real person.

However, because Taiwanese organized crime groups (gangs) do have female participants, and even female leaders, my impression is that gangs include both men and women, although the male proportion is higher.

In Taiwan, there is a gang called the Zhuliang bang. They once had a female leader known by the nickname ‘Queen Bee’ (ć„łçŽ‹èœ‚).

She later transitioned into an actress and starred in quite a few film and television productions."

That Gang is one of Taiwan’s largest gangs.
