The Warren (FluffyChimera)

Because she was freaking out as she was being given ‘bad uppsies’ and watching her babies fall to their deaths while her toughie special friend continued running away. It’s less putting up a fight and more panic flailing.

Love your take on this, that was one of my favorite parts of watership down. The things they came up with to make meaning in ther burrows and avoid the dangers outside… Really good. Love how despondent and dead eyed these fluffies are.

The second I read ‘Cowslip warren’ I knew what was going on- Watership Down was one of my favorite books as a kid. I assume your headcanon has fluffies as a viable food source without having to kill them immediately before cooking, since otherwise they’re literally just feeding fluffies perfectly good trash food that could go to livestock. And it can’t be for pest control since they’re being fed, and if the humans wanted to get rid of all the fluffies it would be simple enough to poison the food first.

Also, why did the toughie’s brother and his new ‘mate’ go outside right after enfies? It is apparently later in the afternoon since its almost night when our fluffy narrator finds them, and there’s no reason to go outside for food since there’s food in the warren. I suspect the mare purposely asked to go outside for spechul huggies so that either her or the stallion would die to the wires.

I wonder how long it will take the smarty to figure out the real deal with the warren, or if he’ll just live contentedly gorging himself on food and ordering around the other fluffies without ever concerning himself with how many are vanishing each day.

Yes, fluffies are a viable food source and their pelts fetch a nice penny.

Correct! The toughie’s brother was led outside by Hazel for ‘enfies’, because she intentionally wanted him to get caught in a snare. Whether they actually enfed or not before he got caught in a snare is left ambiguous.

Whichever the case may be, the cycle never ends.

not to be like that person but will there be another piece like this? I LOVE watership down and the fluffy vs nature element here thats better written out then “lol fox eat fluffy” that i see alot of times, (No shade to those guys), i LOVE this! If not, Im happy as is. Your the master of your own written and drawn works.

Heh heh heh, nice work. Death by predation, clumsiness, human ingenuity, needless fluffy-on-fluffy violence and the slow torment of ennui. This story has everything.

Dunno. This story is pretty solid as it is, I don’t think I need to make any other chapter tie ins to it. If I do make another feral fluffy herd pov story though, I’d like to make it as much of a practical survival horror as I’d expect it would be.

I’m late to the party but I have to say, I love everything about this. There is bleak then there is this, I absolutely love the level of tense despair over the whole warren. This is hands down my favorite work of yours on just emotion alone.

This is great. 10/10.

Thats what I meant by “another piece like this”. Survival horror but like, actual survival. Either way, I just love the universes and stories you write. Their grounded in a seeable reality if fluffies were real.
