A New Sibling p1 by RainbowRottie

I got this idea from the recent Tombola by Moesius!

Tombola Foal-In-A-Can

Potato has a lisp because he has an overgrown tongue, something that can happen to many creatures, so I’m not trying to make fun of people with lisps, I just thought it would be cute.

A New Sibling: p1

Potato happily followed his daddy, he had a pretty green halter on, his equally pretty green leash clipped under his chin. He loved his halter! It had nice silver bells that jingled when he moved. He was a colt now and Daddeh said he’d be getting a babbeh bruddah or sissy today! His fluff was a nice tan with chocolate splotches over his back half. His mane and tail were a light, creamy brown color. His eyes were a pretty silver that matched his hoofsies and horn! He had one mutation, if you didn’t count brown fluff as one. Potato was born with an overgrown tongue, so he had an eternal blep, as his tongue couldn’t fit fully in his mouth. He was singing a song he made up as they walked down the sidewalk to the new, surprise foal-in-a-can machine.

“Tato am gunna be bethtuth big brubbah,
Gunna teeth nyu babbeh tu be guud!
Gunna teeth nyu babbeh tu uthe da witta-bawkthie!
Gunna gib wotha huggieth an wubth!
Wiww thawe aww Tato’th nummieth an wawm nethie!”

This made his daddy chuckle. Potato was a very good little fluffy, Erin was sure he’d be a fantastic brother. Maybe if he proved himself here, he’d let Potato breed with a mare and keep a foal, or even get him a special friend. Unique fluffies were popular right now, Erin wasn’t positive how breeding worked, but maybe Potato could pass on his nice pattern and his overgrown tongue.

The young colt sang his little heart out until they arrived. His tail wagged with glee and he hopped from one side to the other. He watched as Daddeh put a funny leafy hoomin’s called munny into the big babbeh bawks. Erin bent down and lifted Potato up, “Now, you must promise to love this foal and help me care for them, even if they look different.” Potato only grinned, “Yeth, Daddeh! Tato gunna wub babbeh su muthieth! Wiww hab thaddieth wawwath if babbeh hab nu weggieth, bu wiww wub thtiww! Poow nu weggieth fwuffieth mae Tato thaddieth.” Daddeh told him to push one of the buttons that were lit up, so he stared at them and picked a squiggle he liked and pushed it.

The big babbeh bawks growled and there was a clank! Daddeh set Potato down and pulled out a can. He carefully opened it and slowly tilted it so that the foal would gently slide out in front of the eager colt, who laid down so he wasn’t so big and scary looking. There was no peeping and out slid a…pebble. It bounced once as it plinked on the sidewalk. Potato’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry buddy, here, let’s-“ But the excited cry, “Wub nyu thithie!” Potato cooed as he carefully scooped up the gray rock. Gingerly hugging it.

Erin knew fluffies could be very dense, but not this bad! “Well, what are we going to name her? We’ll go to the store to get a few things.” He inserted the empty can into the slot for them to recycle and waited. Potato looked at the pebble, “Cwythtaw! Hew fwuffth thpawkweth in da bwight-baww!” He smiled warmly and carefully stood, scooting the little rock onto his back. His babbeh sissy was so sweepies! She snuggled right into his fluff and was so quiet. He happily followed Daddeh to the store.

Erin made his was around the dollar store, grabbing some things, like paint markers, super glue, googley eyes, yarn and a package of smaller decorative stones. Then he let his little colt pick out some toys for his new sibling and one for himself, for being a good boy. Erin even bought one of those magic milk toy baby bottles. Maybe he could save up and have a customized fluffy foal made, to swap out for the rock at some point? His poor, dumb little horse creature!

Once they got home, Erin told Potato he had to take Crystal and give her a bath. The special baby case she wore came off with warm water. It made sense to the fluffy, so he prepared his safe room, for his baby sister! He was busy setting up her new toys and new, soft blanket. Then he scampered to his drawing table to draw a picture to commemorate this special day! He worked hard to make it the prettiest picture he could.

Erin took the rock and began his modifications too it. He drew on closed eyes, a mouth and nostrils. He glued smaller stones on to be legs. Then he looked through the collection of stones he now had, finding one the same shade of gray with shiny little quartz bits that was twice the size. He drew on nostrils and a mouth, glued on green googley eyes and green yarn for a mane and tail start, brushing the fibers out to make it more hair-like. He took some pictures on his phone, posting to some fluffy forums. He told the story off his poor, dense fluffy. He was looking for a female foal with sparkly gray fluff. Hopefully she’d also have green eyes. Or he’d have to have a custom foal created, which cost a lot to manipulate genes so much. He also built a wooden box that was a simple machine. He liked to build things. The magic milk bottle was dropped in the top, a pedal that Potato could step on made it drop into a tray for him to grab out at the bottom.

He carried the milky machine and the ‘foal’ to the safe room. He sat the box down and called Potato over, showing him how to work it. Then he showed Potato how to feed Crystal with the bottle. Then how to drop the ‘empty’ bottle into the machine to be cleaned. Then when she was hungry again, there was a whole new one! Potato was so happy, his daddy was the smartest human ever! Daddeh trusted him to take good care of his babbeh sissy while he was busy working. He gingerly carried Crystal in his mouth and tucked her into his nesty, wrapping her in the soft, fuzzy green blanket he picked out for her. He gave her a little kiss and walked on his tippy-hoofsies so he wasn’t loud.

Erin had a camera set up so he could watch and hear Potato, to know he was alright while working. It had been a week, Potato was such a good boy. He played or watched tv quietly while his sister was sleeping. He was a diligent and doting big brother. Erin’s heart could almost explode from the cuteness! Then, he had an answer to his prayers. A woman who carefully bred bat-winged fluffies had a foal, the perfect color, except she had dark green markings that looked like large spots of moss growing on a stone statue. She was almost ready to open her eyes. Erin jumped on it and paid the price that was asked. He sent videos of Potato, so the foal, now named Crystal could hear her big brother’s voice. He sent blankets over, so she could have Potato’s scent be familiar. Then he set to work on a real box full of formula filled bottles for Potato to feed her. He would be meeting the woman in three days to pick her up! The dam declared her a poopie babbeh and refused to feed her, so she was used to formula.

Next came the plan, he slowly drew on a few markings each day and told Potato that her pattern was coming in on her fluff now! She was also growing little wingies. Potato was pleased he took good care of Crystal. She was growing really good! Then Daddeh had to take her to the vet without him, she needed a check-up. Potato was a little distraught, but Daddeh would keep her safe. He lay near the baby gate that was the door and stared out it forlornly. The sigh he heaved made his tongue flap like he was blowing raspberries.

Erin met Miss Katrina, to collect Crystal. He wrapped her in the blanket Potato had chosen for her and placed the neon green and white small teddy bear next to her in the carrier before taking her home. He was nervous and hoped this worked! Potato heard Daddeh’s vroom munstah growling in the driveway. He leapt to his hooves and bounced around, “Daddeh! Daddeh! Wan thitheh, wan thee thitheh! Pweeeath!” Erin chuckled softly, “Easy now, you’ll scare her. Daddy didn’t wash off enough of the baby case she came in, but the nice fluffy doctor fixed it, now she can make sounds!” Potato’s eyes became saucers when he heard the cutest little peeping sounds! He sat on his butt and lifted his front leggies. Daddeh softly unwrapped Crystal and set her into his hoofsies.

Instead of the mummah song, Potato sang the bwuddah song to her. She cooed and peeped at him, snuggling into his warm chest fluff. Potato hoped Daddeh didn’t have any heart hurties, he’d never hurt his hood fluffies on purpose! It was okay, Crystal was a very talkative chirpy babbeh. She must be making up for not being able too so long. Caring for a real foal was a little more work, but Potato thought it was just because she was growing. He loved to tickle her little bat wingies with puffs of air from his smeww pwace. She would giggle softly and flap her wingies. He quickly learned her different sounds. He even held her over the wittah bawks so she could make good potties! Potato even cleaned up bad poopies and peepees, she was too little to tell him when she had to go yet, he didn’t mind…too much. They were icky, but he loved her.

It was two days before her little eyes opened! Potato was so excited, he set her in the nesty and ran to hit the Daddeh button. It was a fancy walkie-talkie, so he could talk to Erin and alert him of things. “Daddeh, Daddeh! Cwythtaw had thee pwatheth open! Am boo-boo jewth!” Erin stopped working on the fancy table leg he was making, quickly shutting his lathe down before throwing off the safety goggles and gloves, as well as his work apron as he ran from the garage into the house. He stopped to wash the sawdust from his hands. He stepped over the gate into the safe room. Potato proudly held up Crystal, her little eyes blinked, they were a dark crimson color. “Cheep, peep!” She wiggled her front leggies as Erin gently lifted her, “Wow, daddy’s little girl has pretty red eyes.” Thank goodness Potato had only been describing her eye color!

After that, Crystal grew rapidly, as all foals do. She was soon saying her first words, crawling around and being a lot more work. For some reason, she wasn’t walking yet. Erin watched a lot of videos and began doing leggy exercises with her, showing Potato how to do it too. Potato took charge, crawling like a little foal and showing her how to do push-ups instead of scooting around on her butt or crawling. She soon was standing on unsteady leggies and taking her first steps! Potato was right beside her, encouraging her with endless enthusiasm and lavishing huggies and kissies when she fell and cried. Then her baby teeth grew in. Like all of her special sub type of fluffies did, she had two long pointy vampire like fangs. The rest of her teethies were like a normal fluffy. By now, her mane and tail were growing in. They were the same mossy green as her markings.

“Tato, wai am Cwystaw’s hoofsies bwack an not siwvew wike ou hoofsies? Wai nu hab samesies cowwaws?” Crystal pestered her big brother, following at his heels around their safe room. He giggled and turned around to nudge her onto her back and placed one front hoofsy to hers, “Cuth, fwuffieth awe aww da cowwewth! Su manee cowwawth! Tato wub thithieth cowwawth, thpawkwie gray fwuff, bethuth gweeny mawkinth an mane an taiw! Pwetty boo-boo jewth thee pwatheth! Bwubbah am aww bwowny and thiwvew. Daddeh wud nu noa who am Cwythtaw an who am Tato if wook da thamethieth!” Crystal giggled at the thought, Daddeh wouldn’t be able to tell them apart if they were the same colors? Hoomins smell places must not work so good.

Crystal almost had all her teethies now. She drank a lot more formula and Daddeh was making her something he called oatmeal. She even tried a piece of big brother Potato’s nummies! They were too hard, but she liked to lick the kibble piece. Potato didn’t mind, he’d give her a piece whenever she asked. On a fine Tuesday morning, the idea dawned on him. He took a piece of kibble and set it on his drawing table. Then he gave it the worstest sorry hoofsies! He smashed it into tinier pieces. Crystal was able to eat it now. Slowly her baby teeth got strong enough for her to eat fluffy kibble, she no longer needed milkies. Daddeh made a special bowl for her. Potato’s bowl was green with darker green snek munstah skin pattern, her bowl was black with green and red bat shapes all over. It had miniature kibble in it, for weanling foals. It was perfect for her little mouth!

As Crystal became an older filly, Potato became a full grown stallion. Potato pranced around, it was his first birthday, he was a colt-no-more! Today, they were going to play at the fluffy park. He’d get to tell all his friends that he was a grown up fluffy now and little sissy was a big filly! It was an exciting day, Daddeh made his favorite cake, upside down pineapple! Daddeh also made skettis to share with his friends. Even though that wasn’t his favorite food, it was so many other fluffies favorite. Potato’s favorite food was stuffed portobello mushrooms with cheeses and shredded fajita flavored chicken. Daddeh would make him some, special for when they got back home. He would eat a little bit of skettis, just to share the moment with his friends.

(Well, it started out as a short idea about a very dumb fluffy who basically won a pet rock as a sibling, so his owner would have to make many upgrades to have a ‘growing’ foal made from mostly rocks and colored googley eyes. Then it just kept getting longer and became something else.)

Aww, this story’s very cute! But I think putting it in quotes (>) was a mistake, neither the picture nor word wrap seem to work… I had to copy the whole story into a post of my own to read it!

If you want to keep your story and author’s notes separate, why not put the author’s notes in quotes instead?

Agreed. Would love to see more of Crystal and Potato, but keep the normal text, otherwise reading it can be a pain in the butt. I too had to copy-paste it to read the story.

Something went wrong. I’m not sure what, but I’ll try to fix it! I’m sorry I didn’t notice it sooner.
