A man is walking at the beach when he spots a fluffy mare and a foal hiding in the grass. Normally he would pay this no mind, but then the foal stands up on it’s hind legs, revealing that it has a sparkly mane. The man hurries over and snatches the foal(because hey, no more student loans!), upsetting the mare.
You know the spiel from here; ‘Gib babbeh backsies blah blah blah’ the man would just walk away, but he’s just remembered that sparkly manes are a genetic trait that needs to be on both sides of the family in order to show up, meaning the mare is a carrier and therefore also potentially worth something.
The problem is the only proof he has that the mare and foal are related are the mare’s claim that she is the foal’s mother and the fact that the two fluffies have the same coat and eye colour. The man knows that you can just hand any mare a random foal and tell her it’s her baby and she’ll accept it. The mare also has very common colours. It’s also worth noting that experienced fluffy breeders always have their guard up about rare traits in fluffies being faked.
All this adds up to a situation where the man could just take the foal to a breeder to be sold and get a guaranteed payday, or he could bring both fluffies to potentially get more money while risking that that the breeder could take one look at the common looking mare and decide he’s trying to pull something, leaving the man with no payday.
What should the man do?
(Sidenote: I’m experimenting with kirta, what do you guys think?)
He should ask her if the foal is really hers or not? Clarify if the foal came out of her tummy, or if she found the foal.
Alternatively, the man gives mum and baby to a breeder with the stipulation that they can have the pair for free as a gesture of goodwill (with maybe a down-payment on the foal) but if the mum produces sparkle foals then the man gets a percentage of the profits.
This would require an honest breeder and nary such a thing exist in the Fluffy-verse which is why I think just asking mum if she shat the kid out or not is a simpler solution
Scoop em both up and take em. If the first guy doesn’t take the pair, take them to a second breeder. If he won’t take them either, take the foal alone to a third one and throw mummah out of your car while going 75 down the interstate.
Take her, considering that being a breeder is already a gamble, I believe many breeders would be happy to take in this extremely rare foal and its mother.
After all, if it doesn’t work out, the worst-case scenario is just having another milk bag.
Is the foal a male or female? A lot of breeding involves incest (just a fact) so if its a male, take them both and make big money. If its a female, take them both and offer a breeder the mom if she can produce a litter with even one sparkle mane, that way you get to test and potentially make big money or just get a bunch of new stress balls and a punching bag
Take both in, take to a reputable breeder, probably adopt both so as to keep em safe if it turns out the mare herself can produce foals like this (genetic chimeras mean all sorts of weird things when it comes to reproducing). If not, adopt both anyway; they seem very happy together and it would be pretty shitty to just separate them (and if you want to breed, you get bad batches due to potential stress that’d cause). It;d be good to ask the mare more questions, perhaps nice food would get more details out
Im probably a really bad person, but i love taking the foals from the mom just to hear them both cry and whine.
Of course id give the baby back after a good laugh tho.
Take both. Wash foal’s mane to make sure it doesn’t just have craft herpes. Ask mare who is the father of that foal, and if he had sparkley mane. If not, breed her to a similar stallion and see if she throws any more sparkles. It’s not like they’re super expensive to keep.
You should’ve drawn the foal trying to get out of the abductors grasp, it would have made for a more moving piece of art. I’m not complaining here, just some constructive criticism.
Taking both is only worth it if you already know or know someone that knows a decent fluffy breeder, otherwise you’re just going to be shooting in the dark hoping to gamble on fluffies, which is generally a losing game. Besides, its a lot harder to get two ( or more- what if he has siblings, if the dad or new special friend is around, or if she’s in a herd! ) unwilling fluffies into a vehicle or dragged to wherever. A foal that small can just be put in a sock if it tries to struggle. And a quick payday means not having to find a place to keep him and momma, especially if you have a living situation that is not fluffy friendly like most people probably do.
So generally speaking, its just whichever situation fits the story the best.
Ya fucked up taking the foal, she’s scared and is going to tell you whatever she thinks you want to hear. If the whole “fluffies cant use their name when they lie” thing is part of your cannon it might not even work bc she might not even have a name.
Just take her, it’s not like she cant live on table scraps and grass long enough to get a test litter or two out.
