Imagine if it got into a “What isn’t forbidden is mandatory” situation where if you DON’T want this junk, good luck finding good selection. The bane of tech users time immortal and immoral, alike. Many people forget, and young people never saw it, but there was a time when getting a reliable, energy-efficient car, was not remotely on the marketing teams blackboards at car companies. Yet alone those features and not a death trap. I do have to wonder though, if this was an issue back when the idea of movable type was a new thing. I bet even then people were coming up with gimmicks.
