The kids being naturally afraid of their own mother due to the innate Alicorn fear.
The Alicorn kid bravely standing up for their mum, but in doing so actively acts like the monster their sibling thinks they are.
And then the purple kid’s fears being washed away by the comforting taste of milk.

I can’t help but wonder how long their eyes have been open. Additionally, is this innate alicornphobia, or did someone influence the babies? It’s perfectly possible something happened at day care.
That is why in many stories, alicorn mothers are only allowed to keep their alicorn babies, both for their own safety and that of their other alicorn offspring, as well as for the comfort of the others.
