Ashes to Ashes [by pyrofireflame12]

A camera switches on, as a figure fiddles with it before he steps away. The figure takes a deep breath and speaks.

“This is Dr. Lennox Hickman. Recently, I discovered a diamond in the rough. A fluffy, one of the original fluffies from Hasbio. Nowadays the genes from these fluffies have been lost, but he still keeps it.”

He steps back and reveals a fluffy under a tarp. A unicorn stallion, with wooden brown fluff and a red mane. He mutters something to it and turns back. “This is Tinder. Now, go ahead Tinder. Just like we practiced.”

Tinder smiles and raises his horn. Colorful sparks shoot out in miniature fireworks, and he looks back, satisfied. Lennox pets him, takes out a notepad and pen, and begins speaking.

“The goal for this experiment is to see how far we can modify the ancient ability held by the first unicorns and alicorns to shoot sparks. The desired outcome is to weaponize these sparks, and if emotions will cause them to differentiate. Now then, let us begin with day one.”

Day One

Tinder has been placed inside of an enclosure full of everything a fluffy needs. Toys, water, food, a bed, and even television to play fluff tv, it was heaven for him. He has also been provided with a stuffed animal, which Lennox tells him enjoys when he shoots the sparks at him. An alarm has been placed, which Tinder is told is his friend calling out for the sparks.

Tinder is babbling along to himself, watching the channels. The alarming noise wakes him with a jolt, and he smiles, walking over to the toy. He hangs his head, and you can hear him grunt. His horn spews sparks out, and they colorfully explode against the toy. Interestingly, the toy doesn’t budge at all.

“Tindew wub makin’ stuffy fwend happies!” He waddles off and giggles to himself. Time to see if emotions will affect his ability. Lennox presses a button, and the channel switches. An episode called “Bad Smarties”. It teaches fluffies about bad smarties and aims to make them angry at the smarties which will cause them to dislike them for a long time, or forever.

Throughout the episode, he progressively gets more furious. Stomping his hooves sometimes, he grumbles to himself a bit. The alarm goes off, and his anger doesn’t fade, yet he still wants to make his friend happy. He trots over, snorting in anger, and shoots the sparks. And finally, the project bears fruit.

The sparks are noticeably glowing brighter, and are red and orange. They seem to carry force, as the toy nearly tips over. The noise isn’t like fireworks, it’s more like a hissing noise. The day carries on as Tinder calms down, and when he does, the sparks are back to normal. However, they seem to glow brighter.

Day Two

Tinder awakens and sprays the toy with sparks. He was informed earlier that his friend loves it if the sparks are much brighter and stronger. After this, they seemed to grow brighter and even slightly changed color. The day continues as normal until we bring in a specialist in fluffy psychology. She is currently unaware of the experiment, thinking that it is for children to entertain with bright colors. Janet Rocha. She enters the room.

“Hello, little fluffy! I’m here to check up on you.”

“Hewwo nice wady!” Tinder scampers over and greets her, his tail waving madly. She pets him.

“I heard your name is Tinder, and you’re one of the special fluffies that can do those beautiful sparks. Can you show me?” Tinder nods and holds his head up high, with a look of pride on his face. He sprays out the sparks, eager to please her, and they glow even brighter than yesterday. However, they seem a bit more yellow than red.

“Oh wow, what pretty colors!” She bends down and pets Tinder on the face, and she walks into the enclosure. He trails after her, and Janet bends down near the stuffed animal.

“I hear you give your friend a beautiful show whenever he wants it. But I hear that he wants it to be more colorful.” He looks on in wonder and is slightly concerned that his friend was disappointed.

“Wha’ fwend wan?” She pets both of them on the head.

“Your friend here wants them to be brighter! Every time you give him a show, think about the smarties. Imagine they hurt your friend, and you’re making him better with the sparks.” He smiles and nods, walking over. He grunts and visibly strains, and the sparks are much more different. The stream is longer and it’s not a burst, more like a constant spray. The colors are all kinds, like a rainbow. Janet gasps and praises the fluffy. Time to make him desperate. In his sleep, we install a voice box into the stuffed toy and place a plastic box around it.

Day Three

“STUFFY FWEND? WAI IN SOWWY BOX?” Tinder wakes up and immediately begins to scream in fear. He tries to ram into it, but he can’t make it budge. He is panicking, and hasn’t even eaten food or drank his water yet. We activate the speaker.

“Hello, best friend! I need your help!” Tinder calms down, a small bit though.

“W-wha stuffy fwend nee’ Timbew tu du?” Great. He’s falling for it easily.

“I need you to spray this box with the pretty sparks! But stronger! Give it your all!” He swallows a lump in his throat and aims his head down. He takes a deep breath, and the spray of sparks is amazing. The spray doesn’t even look like sparks. It looks like fire. Colorful, rainbow fire-like sparks, and he complains about something not smelling pretty. Upon closer inspection, the plastic is smoking. He must have managed to burn it somehow, but not through the whole box. He’s got a lot of work to do.

Day Four

Timber hasn’t slept, ate or drank at all. He spent the entirety of the day burning through the box. He’s skinny and exhausted. And a dark, blackened hole has been burned through the box. He’s panting and crawls through the hole. Collapsing on the stuffed toy, he cries in exhaustion and pain. We activate the voice box again.

“Can I have the pretty sparks again? As celebration?” Tinder looks up, a tired look on his face.

“Am sowwy stuffy fwend… am su tiwed… huuu…”

“C’mon! Do it!”

“Huuhuu… otay…”He starts letting off a weak stream of sparks. The stream stops, and he has a look of realization on his face. Then he’s furious, and uncontrollable sparks come out. He screams in anger, and on closer inspection, they aren’t even sparks. It’s fire.

Day Five

We decide to send Janet back in. We want to know what made him so pissed he began to spew fire, so we chose the best person for the job. We made sure to remove any trace of the box that caused him so much pain. Janet steps over the gate, and Timber huddles away.

“Hey Timber! Are you okay…?” She reaches out to touch him, but he jerks back. She seems surprised.

“Gu way…” She seems shocked, and pets him.

“What’s wrong?”

“Stuffy fwend was in sowwy box… was su tiwed an haf su man-ee huwties, bu’ stuffy fwend am fwee…” She’s confused.

“There’s no sorry box. I don’t think there ever was. Are you okay?” Tinder is enraged, and whirls around.

“YU AM WYIN! DUMMEH HOOMIN MAJIK HAF FWEND IN SOWWY BOX!” Janet immediately attempts to calm him down, and we sound the alarm. He huffs off and walks over. Spraying the toy, he realizes it too late. They weren’t sparks.

“NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! AM SU SOWWY STUFFY FWEND! NU MEAN TU! NUUUUUUHUHUHU!” He’s cradling the embers of his beloved friend. Janet has a look of horror on her face, but she snaps out of it and tries to comfort him.

“Tinder, please calm down. We’ll get you another friend, a special friend maybe, a family-” He whirls back, and sprays Janet with fire, she dodges back, but it clings to her clothes. She screams and stumbles back. She falls and the gate is broken off. Desperately trying to put out the fire, Tinder dashes past her. That was the last we saw of him.

Announcement For Those Who Have Read Previous Works

I’m going to be remaking the entirety of Odin’s story. It’s been hard for me to write it lately, so I’m going to redo it. I’ve noticed many errors, and plot holes, and overall the series felt bland to write. I couldn’t just do a chapter that wasn’t about some violence. This is a peek into a large part of the whole series. I hope you all understand my decision.
