Aww Staw Supah Fwuff - Part 5 - Neverending (Author:Oculus)

This was THE hardest chapter to write, and the longest to write so far. Part of the difficulty of this chapter was the source chapter it was adapted from, Chapter 10 of All Star Superman. The chapter also shares the same title, and while some of the contexts that are different, one thing that occurs in both All Star Superman and Aww Staw Supah Fwuff is a pocket universe, and with it, a pocket Earth.

Part of the difficulty of writing this chapter was also giving a glimpse into the larger world that encompasses Supah Fwuff and his contemporaries. The chapter got too bloated at times and, at the behest of a friend, (much thanks to @Mister-Shitrat !) I decided to cut the bloat and only include the memories that were central to the story. This chapter is significant nonetheless in its worldbuilding, and while I’m not sure if I’ll revisit this world after concluding Aww Staw Supah Fwuff, it still felt a little fun to depict.

Some notes:

  • a brand new cover image by Wetfluff, based off a similar illustration for Chapter 10 of All-Star Superman. Its currently uncoloured, though there’ll be a coloured variant later.
  • a lot was originally planned for this chapter that I had to leave out. Among them was the Flossian invasion and Sam attempting to cure Supah Fwuff’s condition with nanofluffies.
  • Gargoyle is based off @RQ’s take on Batman owning a fluffy. He’s a combination of both Batman and the gargoyle Goliath from Disney’s Gargoyles. (Fun fact: Gargoyles was created to compete with Batman!)
  • Brunhilde is one of the central figures from the Ring of the Nibelung. That said, I based her appearance on this picture @Carpdime did of a Valkyrie with her giant fluffy steed.
  • there is one vignette that was planned for this chapter, but I decided not to include it. It will be written as an interlude, before the final chapter goes up

Summary
  • In All-Star Superman, Superman creates a pocket universe and with it, a mirror Earth. The goal was to find out whether Humanity could exist without Superman. Although the resultant human civilization did survive, it still created Superman, but as form of fiction. This subplot is reflected in the subplot of this chapter, based on the idea that, even in a universe where they didn’t exist, humans would still create fluffy ponies as fiction.

  • The Herd from Another World are literal aliens. How they resemble Earth-born fluffies, as well as their technolgoy, and their similar fluffspeak is a mystery that will not be fully answered yet.
