you might ask yourself, what horrendous act has this soul done to deserve all these gates worse then death? it’s a fucking fluffy, that’s what. even fate looks into its eyes and says “because fuck you”

They really didn’t have any kind of training for breeders?
Then again, they were causing them anxiety, so by default they don’t know what they’re doing.

Its the single most basic thing any farmer knows. #1 rule, do not stress the animal unless its for meat, and meat animal stress levels are directly linked to meat quality so there’s acceptable levels there too.

Just like Millennials.

Im assuming they’re trained.

But I think there’s insight into the fluffies thought process in the ‘Wha happen’ panel that shows she may be a smarty mare and thus any such training is overridden.

ie - Hyper skyrocketing expectations despite having gone through this process 13 times already.

Yes, they are supposed to be trained for this, but remember
We are dealing with fluffies, they are not able to handle “stress” situations and at the slightest mistake they get hysterical, in this case the mare was processing the fact that she had a stillborn foal and a “poopie munstah”

Ah the self fulfilling prophecy. The “bad” baby was the one who could’ve saved you.

Dumb mothers are always fun to see

Me,seeing the thumbnail image: “Oh! Maybe this time he’ll finally have a loving owner!”
Me, after reading the comic: “Why hadn’t they drilled into the breeding mares that humans LOVE ‘munstah’ foals?” :frowning:

Because tropes damnit! /SarcasmEnd

Is it Tonga time?

Because fluffies are dumb, and a good baby was dead, and blaming the monster meant it couldn’t be her fault her child was dead.

Hm.

Feeding a Fluffy would cost basically nothing if you already have a system and investment.

A single cubic farming unit, which takes up about two parking spaces in size and needs either a generator or simple wire connection to your buildings electrical, costs about $130,000. About the cost of three new crappy cars, or one fancy one.

That cubic farm unit can feed about 30 people on average, though that is dependent on what you grow and how you modify it. It only takes part-time work, but an owner can do it themselves.

Assuming you’re only talking about yourself you can cut the costs of your food bill per year from that price, less for spices, holiday meals, snacks, and any meat you still want to include. So about $4,000 a year per person.

Fluffy shit and corpses are fertilizer. That further reduces costs. As pointed out before, you can achieve maximum happiness as well as superior nutrition with just zucchini and tomatoes, making zoodle sketties. The next bit is highly dependent on headcanon, but lets say a Fluffy can eat about as much as a small dog. Thats 1/3 a cup of food, but due to talking about breeding we’ll bump it up to 1/2. A single zucchini makes 1.5-3 cups of zoodles, and you only really need one tomato for every 6 cups or so since it only needs a hint of flavor.

Now going back to the cubic farm, a human eats between 8-18 cups of food a day on average, lets simplify it as 13. If that container can feed approximately 30 humans, its producing at least 390 cups of food a day. So you can feed close to 1,200 Fluffies for almost free, especially if you get solar panels on it. A bit less if you feed yourself and some family members.

Lets assume Hasbio Fluffy kibble is the same price as dog food, or you are buying another brand. So a 40 pound bag, which is about 160 cups, is like $16-$50 depending on quality. Since these are breeders you don’t want cheapest quality here, so lets say about $32 after tax. That means one decent bag feeds one Fluffy for about 4 months. If you wanted to feed 1,200 Fluffies for a year it will cost you about $33,000 a year.

So in about 4 years it pays for itself feeding just Fluffies, less if you feed humans in your family unit. If you ever stop raising Fluffies you can move it to your home and produce food just for yourself or selling like many Millennials are doing now.

So…all this math means you could drill it into a Fluffy breeder’s head that one Alicorn they produce alive means one baby they get to keep. You lose nothing because a Fluffy costs virtually nothing to feed, almost literally nothing after 4 years of operation. The only risk is if one ever picks the Alicorn, maybe as the only non-Poopie or as the sole survivor. But even then the only real cost of overhead is either rent or property tax depending on your mill location. Cost of labor too maybe, but all mill or Fluffmart workers seem to be minimum wage or illegal labor.

The sole risk would be if a sibling that was kept killed a sibling Alicorn. But honestly once they are an adult I’d separate them from any mothers near term anyway. There would likely be issues like adult kept males wanting to breed, but there’s always neutering and something phallic on the wall for them to lean into for prostate masturbation. Kept females are just more breeders. Now, headcanon comes back in regarding if males or females are responsible for Alicorn occurrence and coat colors. Plus aging breeders. To produce higher quality milk I’d say Fluffies should know they have a limit to their age they can breed, and just instill a culture that non-pillow’d milkers are “mothers to all babies” or something, give them some new age mother goddess village elder kind of beliefs to pass onto each other. Let them babble wisdom into some kind of speaker system so they just continually pass the belief system onto each other and require minimal human reinforcement.
