Yeah, pretty sure we’re in permanent brain damage territory at the very least.

I had an incident years ago where I overdosed and didn’t breathe or have a heartbeat for several minutes. And I got out of that with practically no brain damage, somehow. I know a guy who was unconscious and apparently not breathing for something like 12 minutes and he made it back alright. And I’ve known people who have gone out for 30 seconds and their brain is just fried. It’s hard to tell without knowing variables.

If the lady was in the bath for a long time before slipping under, the water might have gotten cold. Hypothermia is really good for preventing brain damage and even death after the cessation of vital functions because it slows down your body. This is why you hear stories of people drowning and being pulled from frozen rivers up to half an hour later and then being resuscitated with no ill effects.

Even just a little bit of cold is better than nothing. This lady looks like she’s not insulated by a great big Internal vest of blubber, so she’ll likely get colder quickly if the water around her is also cooling. The pills she took were probably either opiates or benzodiazepines, which both take a little while to be absorbed by the GI tract. This means that in she was probably in the tub at least 20 to 30 minutes before she passed out.

Since her slipping under the water could be due to her moving around and flailing while unconscious, it’s also possible that more time has elapsed. The room getting colder and her taking too long in the bath would have alerted the fluffy that something was abnormal, since fluffies are creatures of habit and get bothered when things are irregular or uncomfortable.

I’m overthinking this.

Possibly :joy:

On the other hand, I once broke my ankle but refused to go to A and E for 24 hours, because I kept insisting that it couldn’t be broken if I could move it.

The point of my story being that I know fuck all about medical issues!

About 10 years ago I drove through Arkansas. I got bitten on my foot by a brown recluse. I was on so much heroin at the time that it masked the pain of the injury for like two weeks. I only noticed because my foot started to smell weird. When I took off my sock I realized there was this HUGE FUCKING ROTTING WOUND ON MY FOOT. I almost had to have 2 of my toes amputated because of it.

Now ideally, what should follow is us swappingi injury stories in an attempt to out do each other (picture the scene in Jaws where Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw compete with Shark attack stories).

I can’t top your story though. That’s metal as fuck :joy:
