I get that there made in a lab but I can’t find out if they breed or not, and if they do, would they be normal fluffys or hunters like there parents. If there any other canon about hunter breeding y’all can tell me, I would appreciate it.
Not many people did hunter fluffies in the past. That said, there are a few people who do like to explore hunter fluffies like @Shadowfox
Thanks for the help! I’m shocked they don’t have much lore, but I guess I should have expected it. Guess I’ll be making some stuff up ![]()
Hunter fluffies, much like jellenheimers, puffy griffins, carnivorous ducks, fluffy snakes and what-have-you pretty much fall into the category of “genetic hybrid/abomination/whatever designed to torture/hurt/kill” fluffy which makes them another subcategory of “yet another abuser OC”. Some people want to make fluffies that are “cooler” than the average fluffy, which is seen as “not cool”, and thus give their fluffies fangs and such. Its also another way or circumventing the problem of “this picture doesn’t have fluffies in it”, which is what happens when a fandom gets too focused on hating fluffies, that people put more attention on either their abuser OCs (thus have no fluffies in it) or their “cooler” fluffies.
Related to the topic at hand, most of the lore on fluffy hunters added to the wiki were done by a few writers/artists pushing their OC. Since there’s no real vetting of the wiki, and there is no definite canon, people would try to push their badass OCs, something that was done since the time of even Phantomfluffy. (Granted, his Howler story was pretty interesting)
That’s pretty interesting. I’m actually more interested in how you deal with something so predatory, and how it will interact with humans and other animals. since it so cat based I bet it will try and attack small animals, and if will treat humans the way cats do, or the way fluffys do
I think the question then would be what would make a hunter fluffy different from say a cat or a dog. If they are fluffies, the next question would be how are they related to mainstream fluffies in said canon.
Its a lot of factors to consider if you were to write them like (a) do you see fluffies as animals marketed as toys, or as ‘organic constructs’ (b) were hunter fluffies supposed to be sold in the first place. And thats not counting whether Hasbio, PETA break-in or the like factor in the canon (some canons don’t factor in Hasbio or the PETA break-in for instance)
To give a contrast, I remember some people mentioning that that bovid-based fluffies, such as the fluffalo or cow fluffy, could be marketed to boys.
That’s some really good insight, No wonder your a curator. I’ll be taking some notes tonight, and I’ll probably turn them into something comprehensive soon. Tell me if you want to stay updated, I’d like to hear your thoughts on it
…I’m not sure whether to feel honored and seen or called out on that.
Meh, I come to this fandom as a self indulgent romp. My goal is to write the stuff I loved in Deadweight’s shit… just toned down a little bit. (He was my favorite, but the moment a Fluffy can take on a human on even terms, it stops being something I can really justify as a fluffy. Cool as Xibalba was.)
As for the original question, mine can with each other. Whether they can with normal fluffies and what would come of that will come up later in my story. And I agree, the change between herbivore and predator, without changing much of the shape, is fun to explore. My headcanon keeps the hasbio and the PETA break-in as canon, leaving my version of hunter fluffies as the brain child of a black-listed hasbio researcher with stolen gene-modding equipment.
For anything outside my own personal self indulgent muck, I’ll have to bounce it back to @Oculusfluffy and their usual sage wisdom. “It depends on headcanon” and all that.
But I’ve always been a fan of the weirder fluffy breeds, so whatever you write or draw I’ll probably be enthusiastic about.
I get liking the weirder fluffy breeds, i like to think that there the reaction of fluffy ponies being out in the wild. The hunters I’m developing actually are pretty different from the know hunters (mostly because of the more prominent goat genes), so I think I’ll have to branch them off
