Interesting details !especially the fluff part,I was wondering why some of the trash has the same color as the mare’s coat in the first place.
They might picked this up from wild animals like birds.
And their tendency to collect ‘shiny objects’,due to their fear of darkness,but it can just backfire so terribly.

The ‘trash’ that is the same colour as the mare’s and stallion’s coat, is loose fluff that they’ve pulled out to help line the nest and make it more comfortable. The textbox in the middle left of the third panel mentions this.
Quite a few wild animals also do this, although we don’t see it too much with fluffies.
I said " in the first place",that means I learned about they are fur later on
and the nest part,that’s why i said they might learned it from birds,because birds sometimes use fur,feathers even cat hair (if they are friends with one) to make a nest.
the reason why we don’t it too much probably is because fluffies are more often get compared to cats ,dogs,horses,and they don’t pull they hair to form a nest.
