Dark foal, summer heat (carniviousduck)

Wouldn’t darker colors be better in the heat?

I think dark color like black absorb more light…

Yeah, but lighter colors would reflect heat, meaning as a fluffy gets warmer in the heat, they’re more likely to just cook their own insides.

white, yellow and green are the ebst colours for reflecting the heat out of the body, darker colours absorb it

Dark furred animals are more susceptible to heat from the sun.

As a lifelong metalhead and goth, I feel this. I feel it far too well.

Physics lesson

White: reflects more heat
Black: absorbs more heat

This means that in direct sunlight white is better as it reflects more heat away from the person. However the reverse is true in the shade as black absorbs more heat from your body, which cools you. This is why in many Middle Eastern countries people wear black clothing.

Black thobes and burqas also cause a convection effect, drawing cooler air from the ground. It doesn’t work so well in high-humidity areas, sadly. I used to have a super cool jilbab for summer wear. It was more comfortable than shorts and a tank top (and not just because I like to cover up).
