How about a story of a Fluffy mama and foals who entertained sick children at a hospital, but then there is a viral outbreak, and one of the foals is infected. So the hospital staff is forced to kill it and its sibling because they do not want to take any chances right in front of the mare.
The mare is either too depressed to entertain the children or lashes out at them and the staff that they send her to a shelter.
Wouldn’t the mom logically be put down too since the foal’s sibling was? Sending her to a shelter just seems like the best way to get that virus into as much circulation as possible.
As for abuse ideas, hum… how about … a fluffy. In a puddle in a pothole. And it’s raining and the fluffy is wailing about its impending death by drowning as the hole gradually fills up. The hole can also be shallow enough for the fluffy to climb out if it wanted/not high enough to fill up to the fluffy’s snout, but that’s just me liking moronbox a lot so you don’t gotta.
