Ebony the Filly Fluffy Song: “Fluffy Don’tchu Cry Today”
Hello. I decided to sing one of the original songs that I wrote from Chapter 3 of Ebony the Filly Fluffy. I took some inspiration from Gospel, Negro Spirtuals, and Freedom Rider songs for the most part, since I’m Nigerian-American. Maybe if I write future songs, I’ll try and pull more from some of the Igbo Christian/Nigerian Praise and Worship music that I grew up with. What do you all think?
Either way, glad I fulfilled this quick request. Thanks so much for listening. Have a great night!

That is SUPER sweet. Yes, I’d like to see something drawn from Igbo hymns! This is awesome!
I need to read the first couple of stories, but how were your fluffies exposed to Black culture? Did the elders live behind a or in a Black church or something? This is just curiosity. I really like the interpretation you’ve taken.

Without giving too much away, they live in a forested woodsy area of downtown Atlanta that is predominantly Black and Latino. Their home is a Maroon colony of escaped Brown, “Ugly” and Alicorn Fluffies. Many have forged meaningful relationships with the Black and Brown people they come across during their consistent rescue missions. Plus, we have all sorts of murals dedicated to Martin Luther King jr. And many other Black activists downtown in our area! So there are a lot of cross-cultural exchanges. As a result, “Poopie” fluffies have formed an implicit bond of solidarity with many of the People of Color in their neighborhoods and forests, and take a decent amount of cues from them when it comes to self-sufficiency, organizing for their survival, and networking between the city, the bodega, and the forests!

Thank you for doing this - I’ll have a listen when I’m not at work.
Could you please put your name in the title as it’s standard practice for this forum for indexing purposes.

That’s awesome. I can see a primarily Black and Brown community taking in and fostering bonds with creatures treated as outcasts by their own kind. It makes a lot of sense, especially given fluffy intelligence and ability to communicate. I can 100% see these fluffies trading some of the veggies they grow with the people they’ve formed bonds with. It’s mutually supportive.
Also, I now can’t help picturing an Atlanta Black church with some fluffy pews set up.

That was not what I was expecting - since they were out walking, I was expecting something closer to marching cadence or something with a more driving beat.
That was super sweet and I can hear the gospel influence - your voice is quite nice and fits the happy bouncy nature of the song.

Thanks! I think I’ll try and record a few of the English speaking songs that I wrote. I’d have to reach out to someone who would be able to sing some of the Spanish songs I wrote after I try recording their English Equivalents.
