Fad by Fluff Yu

In time, better biotoys were produced by better companies with better security. Cool dragons, delightful pixies, and adorable aliens with better bowel control than fluffies were options. Some people got their dogs, cats, whatever “upgraded”. This was expensive, and proprietary. Fluffies were cheap - and for poor people. But as the biotech got less expensive, only diehards and exceptionally twisted “artists” and “biohackers” remained interested. Fluffies weren’t even a pest, they were invisible.

The striped pants are making me think that’s a robber mugging some dude in broad daylight. No wonder neither of 'em is paying attention to the fluffy.

I could see Fluffies continuing to be popular the same way those old Tiger electronic games were. They’re the only option available for those who can’t afford a better product and a generational nostalgia is created by those who grew up with them.
