But really, all they need is to not be hellgremlins. Being more intelligent would be bad, because they’re children’s toys. If they’re smarter than the kids then they’ll be misused ala ChatGPT, with kids making the fluffy do their homework and whatnot. The diarrhea? Not a flaw, it’s a good way to tell if they’ve eaten something they shouldn’t, which just happens to be most things. They’re a novelty, talking pets even a little kid can take care of because they can voice what’s wrong, and that’s all Hasbio would care to make them.

Newer writers confuse “protagonist” with “good guy”. And they self-insert like crazy. And when writers don’t take the time to map out a story from start to finish, the story ALWAYS ends up becoming a shitty version of the Bible: all antagonists are bad and stupid (like my parents!) and the protagonist is omnipotent, self-sacrificing (and cool, like me!).
It’s not a coincidence that this site, full of… let’s say “confused” weirdos, will produce hyper emotional pulp, forcing the cannon of the medium they are bastardizing to align with the fringe views of the author.
