Waffle:
Thank you all for your patience and encouragement while I work on getting this rig into a state where it’s clean and user friendly enough for people to enjoy! My voice is about to go so I had to get this video wrapped up quickly before I can’t talk for a bit so enjoy my plodding stuffed-nosed cadence as I slowly talk you through the Fluffrig’s controls.
Hopefully this rig will be clean and polished enough that it should make animating and creating scenes with it a cinch. Either load the file up into Blender directly to begin messing with the scene and the fluffies, or put it in your Assets directory so you can drag and drop them in as desired.
I’m afraid I can’t give tons of support when it comes to the ins and outs of Blender as this is just a small side project among so many others, so I’m in and out of this community a lot, but things should work as expected.
Some additional info:
The cartoony effect on the models is created through the Compositor nodes for the specific scene. If you don’t see the outlines or colour settings in your scene and you like the effect, feel free to copy the node setup under the Compositor window. I didn’t want these Fluffies to only ever be seen cell-shaded, it just happens to match my style.
For more realistic scenes, you might want to disable emission on the eyes and teeth.
When dragging the rigs into a scene through the Asset Browser, you’ll need to hide the custom rig shapes and the collection containing the Foal or Adult rig if you only want one.
Additional rigs added to the scene might have white eyes: To fix this, visit each Eye Object in the Shaders tab and make sure they are targeted to the correct Empty in the first node. (They should be called something like “Fluffy R Eye Empty.001”, increasing with each added fluffy).
You might also want to Make Instances Real on each Fluffy included into the scene so they have unique fur materials to avoid altering them across fluffies. I’m really sorry, I’m very new to the asset browser and there’s a lot I’m missing.
Usage rights/Crediting:
Feel free to edit, copy, modify, alter and change whatever you like with this rig! I’m not precious about it and I bet there’s a ton of improvements that can be made. I’d love to be credited or mentioned if anything gets made with this rig, mainly because I’d like to see what people have created!
I really hope people find this fun and useful! Thank you for looking and expect more animations in the future right after I take a little holiday!
