Meant to resemble an informational poster you might find at a school, or maybe a fluffy vet. We conveniently gloss over the fact that those fluffies being taken off the street will most likely be put down or worse.
It’s like my headcanon : )
3-4 days:
-Fluff grows thicker
-Colors and patterns are identifiable
Better hope you suddenly don’t lose color and/or saturation or you’re fucked as a foal. Interesting that it happens soo quickly in their life, I kinda imagine their adult colors would come in around 7-14 day marks.
I really do like the detail of their eyes changing colors as they grow up. Don’t see it often.
I think the most likely explanation is that they set it up like that as a testing thing so that the engineers could more effectively nail down the fluff color and texture without having to wait weeks between iterations. Fluffies were meant to be marketed as a toy, not an animal that has a life cycle, so it would make sense that the foal phase wouldn’t be meant to be seen by the public and would be full of weird debugging shit and other developmental oddities. This is a headcanon that has solidified as of five minutes ago, so I don’t know what other ways it can apply in. Maybe it’ll develop further if I write about foals.
The foals’ ears opening when they’re three days old comes from all the chirpy POVs I’ve read where they’re inexplicably able to hear and understand their parents despite being helpless little chicken nuggets that are otherwise similar to newborn kittens or puppies. It’s not mentioned in the post, but I also imagine that an average nursing talkie baby is a lot dumber than an adult fluffy; they’re the source of the myth that fluffies regularly drown in shallow water dishes and get “stuck” in corners because they don’t realize they can turn around. Stuff that would make its fluffy parent feel smart and capable for teaching it how the world works.
I wanna pet your fluffies
I was trying to write a story and this is exactly what i was looking for.
This is just my personal headcanon if you were looking for a general guide to foal development, although you’re welcome to use it as inspiration. I believe the only concrete, unshakable things about the fluffy life cycle are that they breed very quickly and that they’re born tiny and helpless.
