I’ve been told there are breeds of dog that “need” to have jobs or they get depressed, bored, etc. Domestic fluffies are just there to look cute which isn’t the worst thing, but it seems that having a sense of purpose, a role, isn’t bad either. Feral fluffies will have those within a herd, so how to get domestics something similar? Well, small jobs and chores…
Side note: I wanted to make a Siamese fluffy this time.
That siames looks really cute. And I like this idea of a fluffy going out looking for missing fluffies. Though I imagine they’d need an escort for crowded places, or open spaces.
The handlers aren’t far behind. Its just a scared or hurt fluffy is going to be skittish, plus a feral would probably take off pretty quickly without assurances the humans weren’t monsters.
Since I figured these would be most often employed in towns or cities, the idea of having little shoes for the fluffies made a LOT of sense to me. Broken glass, nails, and other things would not do well with their hooves.
Thank you. I’m not sure what inspired this one to be honest. I’ve had the idea for a while, but been working on other things. An earlier version was being a police officer’s little friend who would point people to different QR codes they could scan with their phones for maps, different schedules, whatever. Being cute and helpful. As much PR as anything else.
Getting feral kitties to relax goes a lot smoother when there’s a comforter cat to show them that they’re safe. So… the Siamese fluffy is a nice touch.
Yeah, which is win/win. Places without capacity for sheltering ferals (or dealing with euthanized fluffies) might simply spay/neuter, tag, then release.
This concept is GREAT for my timeline. I can see fluffherders, wildlife control, etc using “friend finder” fluffies to bring entire herds of ferals to redomestication centers.
Similar idea for me. They’d be working for the State Forestry system (who, here, handle the hunting lotteries for Axis deer and mouflon sheep). I don’t know if I will do that for this series, but its an idea I like.
Now, that said, this morning I was pondering a fluffy-herder who helped the fluffy equivalent of a dog walker by helping keep the fluffs moving and together. Or helping with day care, being in the park, etc. There’s plenty examples of that in the fiction, too.
Thank you! I try to keep the jobs to things that’d make sense for an average fluff. Not super demanding, leans into their actual strengths, doesn’t really require their weaknesses, etc. Small things.
For me, at least, this whole series is in a kinder, gentler world. I like the idea of them having an innocence to them, sure, but I also think they ought have a relatively decent level of emotional intelligence.
What’s next? Dunno. I’m really lucky that folks like that to give suggestions though.
