Fluffy-OS Pre-Alpha release

So this is a pre alpha release it’s by no means even really an alpha build, just what I have on the table thus far. I’m not a good game designer just a guy who knows how to program really and therw this together.

So here’s the deal:

Want a story line included? DM me and I’ll build it to the same quality that you put in.

Want art in the game that’s not shitty sprites that arn’t even rendering right? I’m willing to pay for art.

Want gameplay features? Hit me up here. I’ll add anything you want.

Find bugs? No shit, it’s pre-alpha and I’ve never even tried to build one of these games before. This is literally my first attempt at a game ever.

It’s solid. I think it is a good idea getting whatever genetics system you have set up for the fluffies in place, the markets and making the items usable, before making the gameplay more satisfying by fleshing out the art or layout, though more random fluffy text would be nice, maybe some checks based on what body parts are injured or missing or blurbs based on their mood or needs. I noticed when some tabs closed out, like the Market, they would just never open back up. That might be a bug? All in all, good shit, I beg you please break the Fluffy game curse and actually bring this thing to 1.0.

I figured I’d have about 2 months before I get bored and release it as open source on Github.

With that said, most of the items should be usable and funny enough the genetics is actually fully in place. You should be bale to even see the rpedictions in the genetics tab. With that said….hmm, I like the idea on the dialog, I’ll 100% look into that and I’ll take a look at the UI issue. I thus far only have actually tested to make sure the basics and gamebreaking glitches were addressed.

I’d love to help out with this, but unfortunately, I only have a Mac and the game’s not really working with CrossOver. Still, though, it’s nice to see someone actually making something like this!

I can’t really give feedback without the ability to actually play the game, but I think it’d be neat to have a few unique dialogues depending on how you raise them as a foal—for instance, raising a foal only around pillowfluffs could have a result like this. Of course, that’s probably not an immediate priority.

I’ll have to give the game a shot myself, but I can easily think of one feature any fluffy game could use:

The Sorry Table.

What is the Sorry Table? Well, it’s a special little place for you to place those naughty fluffies and give them the punishment they deserve without making a mess of your lovely home!

Alright, without the autism, basically a Sorry Table would be something to add to any room in your home. You can take a fluffy and place them on the table. Clicking on the table with a fluffy on it will open up a window showing the fluffy strapped down in a way that it can’t escape, maybe only flail helplessly. It’ll beg and cry and poop and pee and insist that it’s a good fluffy.

Anyway, you can use a Sorry Stick on a fluffy, stab it with toothpicks, or even turn them into a Pillowfluff. The sprite will react accordingly to each action, so you will actually be able to see just how much agony it’s in. And of course, if a fluffy dies on the table, there will be a lifeless sprite laying there, motionless.

As an additional note, maybe since it’s an OS-style game, maybe some bitcrushed audio for certain actions and even dialogue from fluffies? You could probably use bit-crushed AI voices for fluffies and the bit-crush would help maintain a form of authenticity. Same with chirps for foals. Regarding the SCREEs and cries and such, you could probably get away with using the sounds of a Lyrebird (or even just a boiling tea-pot).

Then again, I’ve had these couple ideas in my head for a decade, so I’m just spouting atm lol

Also I can pet a foal that died in utero and it says “Hugs! Wub!” after I got two fluffies to breed. I can’t exactly get rid of it and there’s no flags or art for it dying and other than it being flagged as dead there’s no real difference between life and death for it.

Heyo!

So I’m not a Mac user but I’m exporting it for you now for Mac. It did warn Gatekeeper (guessing that’s Apple’s AV?) might try nad block it.

Love all of it! I’ll add these in for sure! Some stuff is already there a little bit. Like the sorrybox or the pillowing kit, but no animation for it yet. But it does affect the stats!

So I’m trying it myself, and I have no clue how to get a fluffy out of the sorry box. On top of that, it spams pretty much all the dialogue at once endlessly.

Still, I’m already seeing the potential for it so far. I’d love to see how far it goes, if not mostly done.

EDIT: Actually nvm, I think it’s because I wasn’t clicking on the actual objects themselves, just their sprites.

I had an issue where even though the game was closed, it was still running in the background, and no matter how many times I tried to end the task, it wouldn’t. Eventually, it worked, but don’t ask me how

o.o Concerning. Could be a buffer overflow issue or memleak issue? I’m not super experienced with GoDot so I’d have to dig in and release a debug variant too so ya’ll can upload logs.

Yea I need to fix the sprites and their clickability a bit. It’s all placeholders for now. There’s around 30 days of content in game and some only trigger when you do specific things.

OH SHIT! I just realized I forgot to turn that off x.x I had the sorrybox dialog in there spamming for debugging purposes! I’ll fix it in the next build!

If any artist out there can read this and can draw me some detailed view of a foals asshole and balls, I can build in a large close up view on that to smack the shit out of it’s balls >.> it’s a dream I had.

I’m liking it so far. Dialogue all feels very fluffy-esque, so that’s great.

One think I kept noticing that I thought was a fluke was that whenever a fluffy is pillowed, I assume it’s dying after a period of time, but when it does, it just vanishes. I noticed it before the dispose feature was added, but it seems still present.

Another thing I noticed is the sprites for the fluffy is a bit ‘wonky’ in that the alpha/BG is visible in two frames as it walks, but it’s not a huge deal since I know visuals aren’t the main focus at the moment.

Either way, pretty good update, looking forward to seeing what’s planned next!

Yea until I get an artist who’s willing to make stuff in exchange for money or the good of their heart, the visuals will be wonky. But yes, for now the basic functionality is unless you care manually for them PIllow fluffs will die and vanish.

Is there currently a way to manually feed/quench pillowfluffs? I think I tried carrying them over but no dice.
