Fluffy Pony characters 1 (by ZealousBadIdea)

So these were the first fluffies I ever created. They weren’t particularly well received when I first uploaded them to the sub-reddit all those months ago. I thought I’d make a few improvements and see how well this does here.

I personally love seeing fluffies with interesting genetic edits. Cheshire seems like a good pal to have around.

Didn’t know dracofluffies existed, and is now vibrating and digging like a drill.

oh she is, well, as long as you aren’t a feral fluffy.

As far as I know no one else has done dracofluffs before and I made it through most of the borough when it was still around. I have seen fluffies dressed in dragon costumes and the demon fluffs do come pretty close to dragons but that’s about it.

I do have one more dracofluff pic I am planning on uploading today and another one in the works.

the demonfluffs have been mentioned, I have been summoned! lol.

but seriously, these are adorable. especially Cheshire.

It’s hard to get me on board with new fluff varieties (not that I’d discourage anyone from making them. Different strokes and all that), but I can actually see a ‘boy’s fluffy’ being pushed in the setting and I like the potential there. Especially when it still has typical fluffy traits like wanting ‘huggies’ and ‘luv’…and not being too much smarter than a fluffy, going by the fact that draco fluffs can’t actually breathe fire but believe they can (I really like this idea in particular).

Like, there’s something more than “my oc is so cool and better than regular fluffies it KILLS regular fluffies while looking super badass”.

Like I said, it makes sense to me that a biotoy line would attempt gendered marketing, and a dragon makes sense as a counterpart to unicorns/pegasi as the ‘boy’s fantasy animal’ vs the ‘girl’s fantasy animal’. I guess that would be a big draw for them. That the variety makes sense as a toy line, and not just a neat pet.

I have less to say about Cheshire. I like her design at least! I can see the inspiration from the cartoon version of the Cheshire Cat and the CGI movie one and I dig it.

For Gideon, the combo of ‘excessively happy’ and ‘seemingly more clever’ is an interesting one. Unique and believable imo. I’d like to see more of him

Do you mind if other people use the draco fluffy concept, or would you prefer it to be more your thing?

thank you.

yeah I mentioned the demonfluffs since they are pretty much the closest thing to dragon fluffies I have seen.

I actually rather love all the variants of Fluffy people come up with. Its creative and, to me at least, it makes sense in universe since fluffies are pretty much a mishmash of different animals anyway; why not switch of the ratio of the animal DNA? Plus, it just kinda makes sense to me that a company would constantly churn out new variants on a product to try and keep it relevant and sales up; think cherry pepsi, vanilla pepsi, crystal pepsi, pepsi dark, etc. even if said product is a bio-engineered plaything.

I actually originally came up with the idea for the Dragon Fluffs after seeing all the different breeds and thought “hey, a dragon fluffy would be neat, like a fuzzy Spyro the dragon”. So for a while I was just thinking of it as a one off thing but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense that some corporate executive would push these things out as a way to appeal more to boys. I mean, Hasbro did it in the real world with My Little Pony vs GIJoe.

I do kinda like the idea of making “badass killer OC fluffies” but I really think it still needs to be a fluffy at heart; so it is badass by fluffy standards but that still means a human toddler could probably take it on easily. I tried to keep that in mind with the dragon fluffies; make them look cool and a little tougher than normal fluffies, but its still a fluffy so its dumb and less than a threat to malnourished raccoon.

Yeah, I got the idea for Cheshire after browsing the Fluffy Wiki entry for Hunting friends. I thought the design by Dawky was pretty neat, very cat like and I’m kinda a cat person. I figured, that’d be a pretty sweet pet. I was curious to see if anyone would pic up on the cartoon and CGI Cheshire cat design, although to be fair, the cartoon element was only recently added when I updated everything.

I’m not really much of a writer, at least when it comes to character and narrative driven works. So I really don’t have any further plans for Gideon, although I would be up for anyone wanting to use him in one of their stories.

I’m actually perfectly fine with other people using my draco fluff concept, I actually say as much in the follow-up piece that goes into more detail about them.

As a lover of variants these are a solid bunch. Though I especially like the Dracofluffs and how their “fire” mechanism mimics how its done in other toys.

well, these things are meant for children, so it seams unlikely Hasbro would have them actually breath fire. I doubt there are enough lawyers in the world to protect a company that sells pets/toys to small children that double as a flamethrower.

While what I see as “custom fluffies” dispute with my head canon and generally, aren’t my thing, I do appreciate new sources of creativity and have no right to tell any of you “stop having fun” with your non-standard fluffies

It’s a nice reminder that everyone has their own world constructed in their mind, and a form of proof that the whole Fluffy thing provides inspiration and creative drive that ain’t just bitter and murderous, and leads to new creations on the daily - the traditionalists be damned. I will uphold my ways, while others will write their own to follow.

Cheshire would be good for an exterminator to keep around - not only does it discourage the local fluffies from ever getting too comfortable, but he would surely be capable of tracking them down, even in the places fluffies like to hide from us. He’d make a good buddy, provided he isn’t too belligerent or mischievous back home.

Well, at home she basically acts like a really cuddly house cat. She actually wouldn’t be that great as a full on exterminator as she can’t take out an entire herd by herself. She is particularly good as a deterrent as she takes out individual ferals just fine and, while she can’t eliminate an entire herd herself, she can disperse them quickly by taking out their Smarty Friend and Toughies.
