On the one hand, I like that you can cut off wings and horns over and over again. On the other, you lose that moment of dawning reality where the fluffy realizes legs etc. are gone forever.

This ties in nicely with my lore! This is really really great.
Wings and horns regenerate bc they are the more “unnatural” features and have the least amount of native cells. Legs use a lot less genetic modification and wouldn’t grow back.

So if wings and horns grow back, there’s also the possibility of GRAFTING !!!
So if you mutilate an Alicorn and put more desirable colored wings and horns over the wounds, the stupid fluffy genetic soup might not recognize the new material as foreign cells and just accept the transplants.
Six winged alicorns. Four horns. Get biblical.

Someone did a comic where they made the limbs grow back because it was a replacement for chickens. Yeah, sort of similar to the idea of making a chicken be engineered to have multiple wings.
