Fluffyrunner: The Cherry Protocol

Cherry emerged from the shadows under the overpass, filthy, with a cold emotionless expression. She approached the small stream running through the causeway that ran under the concrete highway above her. She looked at her reflection in the water. Her once beautiful fur was now matted and dark with grime, dirt, and smoke from the fire she had escaped from just mere hours ago.

Her AI was still working behind the scenes in her bio computer brain. For a brief moment she was still an innocent little fluffy, sad that she was so dirty. She missed her pretty fluff, her most precious commodity - stained by the cruelty of men who saw her as nothing but a sex toy. Her eyes were about to fill with tears before the AI took over and removed the emotion from her face.

She slowly walked into the water and let the cool ripples of the stream splash against her. She stood beneath a large chunk of slate that created a tiny waterfall she could use as a shower. She stayed under the water as it washed over her, staring blankly at the sunset.

“Pwetty.” She said to herself as she waited for the water to soften and remove the hardened stains from her fur.

“It’s just pollution in the air that the sunlight shines through. This results in the colored sky.” The AI said in the back of her mind.

“It am stiw pwetty!” Cherry said with a smile, trying to hide her sadness.

“We are safe now.” The AI said, following its protocol that commanded it to try and keep the fluffy happy. “Do not fear them anymore.”

Cherry looked down at her reflection in the ripples of the stream.

“Chewwy hab wowstest heawt huwties.” She said, trying not to cry. “Nu am safe fwum dat.”

The AI searched its data for something it could use to ease the fluffy’s pain. It used its wireless internet bio-card (normally used for remote updates to the Hasbio firmware) to pick up a local donut shop’s guest wifi. It was able to get a small signal which it used to access the internet. It searched for animal depression recovery techniques and began downloading as much data as it could with the weak connection.

“You are a good fluffy who deserves love.” The AI explained. “It’s not your fault that the bad men hurt you.”

Cherry sniffed as her tears mixed with the water washing over her.

“Chewwy wan nice famiwy and good housie.” She said sadly.

“We will find one together.” The AI said, searching for good homes nearby as it wrote its own algorithm to help refine the search.

“Chewwy nu wike bad men.” She said, her sadness slowly turning to anger. “Bad men huwt fwuffy, nu wike.”

“They are dead now.” The AI reminded her.

“Buh wuh bout over fwuffies, an over bad hoomans?” Cherry inquired.

“They are not our concern.” The AI replied.

“Chewwy wan hewp over fwuffies.” She said. “Save dem fwum bad hoomans who give wowstest huwties.”

The AI began running its various systems to try and formulate an option.

“It would be difficult to accomplish alone, but if we were to combine forces with other fluffies, the problem becomes exponentially easier.”

Cherry sat silently as the water continued to soak and wash her.

The AI located a nearby fluffy shelter. A perfect spot for freeing fluffies to begin creating a revolutionary army. It shared the information with Cherry; she could see it in her mind as if she was looking at a computer screen in her head.

“Save fwuffies.” She said quietly. "No mow huwties.

We have a 97% chance of success based on my calculations." The AI said reassuringly. “We simply need more fluffies, and more data.”

“Chewwy undewstand.” She said with a determined expression. “Wiw sabe aw da fwuffies. Hoomans nu huwt fwuffy nu mow.”

“We will rest here tonight and begin first thing tomorrow morning. We shall call it the Cherry Protocol.” The AI said, beginning its self charging sequence. The fluffy’s biological body needed food and water to recharge. She drank a bunch of the cool stream water and ate some nearby dandelions for sustenance.

She then curled up in a little wet ball, hidden in the shaded tall grass. She fell asleep to the quiet sounds of the city behind her, the AI running in the background of her mind as she slept. Tomorrow would be a new chapter in their lives, and it was going to change the world forever.
