Foal hooves. (Mexi)

Been a minute since I’ve uploaded any of my work, gotten a new pc so hopefully things should be easier.

Since I have something a little more capable for this kind of thing, I want to see if I can improve the appearance of my fluffy models. If you guys have any suggestions to improve I’d be open to hearing them. So far I’m hoping to try giving them more realistic skin texture, changing the ears ,a bit nicer fluff and since there’s some changes already there’s one thing I’d like to ask you guys about.

I’ve been thinking about changing the way the foals hooves look. Instead of the old way where they just look like little nubs and grow the hooves later I was considering them have them from birth.

It would definitely be easy to do, I can grab the foal head and slap it on the adult body, maybe squish the proportions to make it a bit chubbier.

The reason I’ve hesitated to do the new way is because they already have a lot of examples of the foals being shown as they are and I don’t know if changing them suddenly will be too jarring (or maybe people just prefer the style of foals that have the nub feet).

I know the “Depends on owners headcannon” rule will probably be mentioned but it’s something I wanted to ask.
Just wanted the throw this out there and see what people think.

P.S. This isn’t another Rick Roll, I swear.

  • Keep foals the same.
  • Change.

it would be a good addiction to the fandom, as little by little they generate their soft hooves, it even gives material for hugbox and abuse, a mental image that came to me would be to seal with a cauterizer the hoof growth zone of a fluffy hoof so that it never generates and is impossible for them to walk on hard surfaces in adulthood ,limiting them.

You may want to consider making foal hooves look more like actual horse hooves when they’re first born.
When real horses are born, their hooves are very soft to keep from creating punctures or tears in the mare’s reproductive tract.
And to be honest, it looks freaky as shit.
This stage is referred to as “foal slippers” and the hooves are basically made out of keratin (hair) before hardening into a single cohesive hoof.
But since fluffies are… whatever we want them to be, maybe this stage lasts longer than it does for horse foals.
Just something to consider.

It would be possible, while the foal hooves are soft and pliable, to form them into any shape you might want, or even to insert foreign objects inside them to help them take a more pleasing shape.
Of course, this would likely make walking very painful for the fluffy.
If you care about that.

If you do change them, just make a comic with the old and new versions being all “what am yu” “am yu but bettew” or a mare having a litter with both types and being all “daddeh wtf am dis”. Then the change is announced and not jarring!
