Realistically it feels like he would lose interest, or at least in personalizing it. Maybe not at first but certainly after a few failures. Just boil them or set them on fire or something, maybe just kick them when he sees them, whatever doesn’t require interaction. The dude is clearly really bad at it.

I still think the abuser being hurt is bad news, but I agree with you that it’s fucking hilarious.
The foal might die, but hell that’s a lotta damage on the abuser. It might be just other foal, but it might last as a forever memory on how a fluffy foal reminded just how unloved, lonely and miserable the abuser is. And he hates the foal more because it’s true.
Foal wins at the end.

Its one of those things where I could see the abuser having scarred over cuts on their wrists plus other signs of self-harm or unsuccessful suicide attempts.
As I noted with Napoleon and Hippylyta, and I think you picked up on, HUMANS are for huggies and love. And, well, yeah… totally legit psychological/emotional need. That we deny kind of regularly. Or don’t get.
That’s my feeling, anyhow.
