Foalout 4 – Sanctuary Hills – Chapter 40 p2 – Lothmar

You enjoyed the remainder of your late afternoon and evening with your collection of goobers but your mind was divided. It focused on the inevitable scientific work that was to come later that evening. You occasionally stopped mid activity with the fluffies and summoned a robot to go and collect something in storage and deliver it to the garage to save you time later. Most of the foals were already asleep by the time the sun was going down and you tucked in your fluffies for the night and strolled down the road.

Your shadow lengthened as you went followed only by a curious Isaac. “Diwectow Daddeh, why ou’ wub ou’ not hoobs wike dat?” It was only outside of the garage when he heard this had Johnson noticed his palms has been rubbing together like a greedy merchant.

You turned back with a smiling face. “I honestly don’t know bud.” You chuckled excitedly opening the door. “I’ll be busy so if you’re coming in to charge please don’t interrupt too much.” You add subtly wanting Isaac to excuse himself and charge elsewhere ; but also kind of wanting someone at hand to potentially act as a conscience if needed. Isaacs eye stalked bobbed like a nod and followed in to the the robot diagnostic station and sat down.

After changing out of his combat fatigues and into something maintenance oriented Johnson set to work rotating some of his power armor collection, so it was less spread out to make space in a corner for the apparatus. Johnson flipped open their pip boy “Memo to self. Consider an extension or new floor to the garage or a dedicated ‘show room’ for the collection.” He added wiping his brow off. He would want the lounger set up somewhere directly cabled to the fusion generator and didn’t feel like assembling a second dedicated one for the function. He attached a backup battery for emergencies that fed from the power bank that saved the excess solar and wind that you often just used for recharging energy cells ; along with a secondary line tied into the general grid that had various types of generators attached to it throughout the settlement.

Johnson sat down and took a cold purified water out of the fridge an poured some on a rag to wipe himself down having worked up a sweat. He vented for a bit after unzipping the jump suit and pulling the top portion down to his waist and glugged down the remaining water.

“Ou’ suwe wowk’n hawd. . .” Isaac peeped out for the first time in hours. You had honestly forgot he was here.

“Heh, I suppose so.” You add looking at the apparatus that had been secured and wired.

“Why do? Am it nu bettah to be human?” Isaac added curiously.

“Some would say or even assume so Isaac.” You add looking up against the rag over your forehead and face as a drop or two dripped on your shoulders and the bench behind you. “But im a curious person and like to investigate what I can instead of just assuming established fact.” You add with a massive smile.
Isaacs eye stalks retract close and the eyrises shutter as if squinting and you could swear you heard a mild static ‘Scawy’ from the automaton.

Feeling rejuvenated you set to work running through the final examinations and maintenance tests to make sure nothing had gotten dislodged during transport or sabotaged while in the institute’s custody. Not detecting anything obviously dangerous or spy like you then proceeded through the software code to make sure nothing seemed out of place. “Looks good.” You add with a pat after securing three factor authentication to use it just in case someone tried to steal your body. You proceeded to the custom hardware hookups to the life support tank.

“Better shower off before use.” You add not wanting to sleep in your manual labor sweat. After a short stint to the decontamination arc and a change of clothes you were ready. You snapped your fingers with a sigh. “Fuck it, this will just be a short test run anyway.” You add realizing you had forgot to set up a ‘life support’ system to continue providing your primary body with fluids and nutrients while it continued to breath and generally exist unconscious in the chair.

Closing the top of the lounger the screen extended into place and you slowly drifted off into a hypnotic state of unconsciousness. Isaac watched as the cable glowed for a moment and then the gel around the fluffy inside shimmered as the glass case rotated open like a Kowalski preservation shelter.

After a few seconds Isaac got off the pad to approach curiously only to reel back suddenly and into the wall as a hoof emerged from the gel that had firmed up with the charge run through it.
The Black unicorn emerged from the standing gel container like a zombie from a grave. At least till it stumbled to all fours and coughed slightly as the oxygenated fluid dissipated itself from the fluffies lunges and breathing began in earnest. “Daddeh?” Isaac added reluctantly.

The eyes of the mono black unicorn looked up.

“DIS DIWECTOW’S WAND NAO!”
