Foaltron !!!! (Commissioned for Lothmar) (InfraredTurbine)

They were imprisoned for crimes, likely because they’re varying degrees of stupid and lacking loyalty.

Starscream retrieved their shelved brains and gave them new bodies to help him create his own faction.

They got their asses kicked. Swindle tried to sell his teammates still-living but paralyzed bodies. They popped up a few more times but are not really loyal enough to anyone to actually be considered true Decepticons. In IDW they were Starscream’s main pawns.

As I recall Airraid is shown reading a porno mag featuring a blue Arcee at some point in one of the Japanese cartoons, and Blast-Off is now a gay character who’s either in love with Onslaught or Cosmos depending on the continuity.

Just like Robotech.
Like Robotech it was supposed to be three but Lion Voltron was a run away success.
So much so that WEP comissioned Toei to animate MORE episodes just for Voltron.
Go Lion is just 52 episodes voltron is 78.

And you can only edit stock footage together for so much.

IDW comics being the way they are I can’t tell if you are serious or not.
And Air Raid is an autobot ( usually )

He did.
He formed the head and shoulders.
Not really a direction I liked.
But MTME was the fun one RID was the boring serious one that did what needed to be done
( Deal with the fallout of ending the war and smooth over all thos fucking continuity errors.
So those facsimiles then. )

In real world terms that’s because it’s a part of Combiner Wars.
Where all transformers can combine with each other and you get horrendous unholy results
Then again anything with Starscream is horrendous.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to my favorite of the dubbed animes of the '80s, Starblazers.

(Indisputably the best theme of them all, uchu senken Yamato is badass, even with dubbed lyrics.)

Starblazers was first released in the USA in 1979.
And was one of the first more mature Anime with a story arc running though it’s episodes.

Well, I watched it during the 80s. Managed to catch two complete runs on network TV, which was pretty impressive. Much later I watched the original Japanese version with subs, they didn’t actually change that much, aside from the name of the ship (for obvious reasons).

Fun fact, the Space Battleship Yamato theme was the unofficial theme of the JNSDF for decades.

Never mind, I not only mixed up the name of Bruticus’s helicopter but the bot watching porn was Octane in the last season.

My mistake.

Also in the previous IDW continuity Blast-Off was in love with the non-gay Onslaught. After Starscream got the rest of the Combaticons together he brainwashed Onslaught into being gay for him if he helped keep them under control. The rapeyness was intended.

In new IDW he’s in a consensual long distance relationship with Cosmos. Because neither are frontline soldiers they maintain the relationship despite the war.

It was and stil is a pretty damn good series.
Which is why it endures even to this day.
Space battleship Yamato is made up off 3 volumes v1 ( 74) v2 ( 78 ) and v3 ( 80 )
So technically its partially 80’s but mostly 70’s

But its a great anime and that’s what matters.

Oh yeah they made octane a part of the Combaticons.

Well we all are just nerds, nerdin together.

Oh, Space Battleship Yamato is definitely 70s, almost painfully so.

The live action movie (the one I saw, at least, they may have made more) was a huge disappointment.

So is Gundam 0079.
70’s anime has a unique quality to it and i don’t just mean the flares its charmingly primitive with HUGE black borders like they went wild with a sharpie.

I’m sad to say they made more.
Well more Yamato continuation that is with 2199 in 2011 and 2202 which is a 26 episode series of theatrical animated movies from 2017 to 2019.

I mean the original 3 should stay seperate they told a coherent storyline with a definite end.

Not too mention that the modern animation is very much at odds with the 70’s animation.

The live action one was thankfullya one off but almost all live action adaptions of anime are a disaster.
Live action can’t hope to compete with the over the top designs of anime especially not with out MCU type special effects and budgets.
And what may look good drawn, doenst always translate well to the real world.

Oh absolutely. Disney is probably the only company that could pull off a live action Starblazers, and why would they want to?

And the live action thing is so true. The Cowboy Bebop series on Netflix had an excellent cast but it just didn’t work (and has already been cancelled).

Oh well, only eight days til The Book of Boba Fett.

Yup known at the west as Voltron Vehicle Team in Japan is DaiRugger XV
