extremely paraphrased from its wiki page:

Leucochloridium paradoxum, the green-banded broodsac, is a parasitic flatworm. Its intermediate hosts are land snails. They fill the eye stalks of the snail, thereby attracting predation by birds, the primary host.
The appearance and behaviour is a case of aggressive mimicry, where the parasite vaguely resembles the food of the host, thereby gaining the parasite entry into the host’s body by being eaten.

the full thing might be considered graphic or at least gross so read that with caution :)) know that they don’t do shit to humans though

aaaaaahhh, a few weeks ago I was talking with this friend about the psychodelic eyed snails caused by this parasite. Good times

broodsacs are one of the only animals that actually manage to squick me out
