An old drawing I posted long ago, I always felt like I couldn’t capture the hopeful feeling light would give a cold feral just trying to escape the rain.
So I redrew it, It feels better, still not quite there yet.

I think the issue is you don’t see their face - the showing of hope on their face.

True, the fluff’s expression would help. I think I could make the body language seem a bit more heavy, as if it was trudging onward, soaking wet and tired. The more In think about this the more I want to draw it a third time. lol

Maybe you can adjust the perspective too ever so slightly, even just seeing a bit of the right eye and/or mouth can express some extra emotion.
