Hug box edits

I know editing other people’s work to another box was a problem on the booru
Are there rules about it on here?

It’s not allowed without the original artist’s permission

I don’t know but permission is better than hoping for forgiveness. If you want to do that I’d strongly recommend asking. @Booperino has been asking the creators for the non-Canon continuations they’ve been doing.

id imagine it would be considered against the rules if done without asking first.
Even hugbox-alt-ending strips i make i always ask for permission from the original authors before i doodle them

I’d like to announce here that all my work and characters are open source and everyone is welcome to do whatever they like with it. Actually, can “open-source creator” be a tag/group for people who agree with the idea?

I think being excessively propreitary and defensive prevents the free flow of ideas and variation that makes a bottom-up fandom community work. If you take a look at the Lovecraft Circle and how their Mythos developed along those lines, that’s the model I’m advocating.

Yes, I like that idea.
I like to see the fluffy community as one big shared universe where different artists fluffies and styles are interpreted as different kinds of breeds.
( an idea from @Oculusfluffy )

I’d like to see kitsune fluffies done by others, or in the backgrounds of work by others for example.

And the idea that we are all in one big shared universe is one I am totally with.

That there are tiny @Foxhoarder breeds of fluffies and there is a abusementpark run by the @SuperWeaner company.
That there is a fixer going around fixing broken fluffies, that there are exotic and high maintenance fluffies ( not just kitsune fluffies )
Little tiny micro fluffies houses in tanks, and more

All that just fires my imagination, and give a real sense of a community.

As I understand it it is against the rules to use other people’s OCs without their direct permission.

Using things like headcannons or general ideas tend to be a bit more open though.

Personally i am okay with people using my kitsune fluffies.
or even having a go at Rambo.
I regard it as HTF give him an apple and a bandaid, he’ll be fine next time around.

I agree with @Aurix. Someone taking Avocado and turning him into a pedo or making Tumbly into an enfie pal would be bad. Likewise, turning Crimson into some sort of hugboxing fool would be a senseless thing.

There used to be a problem with shit edits in the past if I remember the old timers right. Where folks were highly disrespectful of the original creators, even malicious.

It’s a many steps worse than “rabid anti-box post in the comments.”

I’ve got some things that are for general consumption but those tend to be my product bits. My characters? Uhm… Not so much.

The use of kitsune fluffy is something that is probably generally accepted as open to the community to use.

The use of Rambo specifically is not something open for others to use, without your permission. (Which in this case you openly give)

Well yeah there has to be mutual respect between creators.
I wouldnt just take one of your OC’s and twist them in an out and make them in to something else, something they are not.
But i like the idea of having one big shared fluffy universe.
And have everybodies little talking biotoy horsies interact or inhabit the same space.

I wouldnt be too thrilled with people turning Rambo into something despicable or a smarty or whatever, but I am fine with people wanting to draw him.
And Kitsune Fluffies are an open species.
You want one go for it.

That’s the kind of thing I mean.

I would say a different tag than open source should be used. That’s super prevalent in software and I don’t think we want someone looking for Libre Office finding us by accident :stuck_out_tongue:

I am mostly advocating a shared universe though.
It was done in the early days of the booru when artists made fan art and gift art for each other,
and i’d love to see that around here but with a stronger sense of community .

That we are all combined in our efforts. ( but never beholden if somebody wants to break free and go their own way )

Librefluffy, the fluffy that works for you !

As wonderful as this sounds in theory it is near impossible with as many different conflicting views, headcannons and tastes. It just isn’t reasonable to condense the community in such a way.

Don’t ask about Fluffy GIMP.

Maybe making a project would work?

“The Shelter Stories” where each creator follows the story of a foal from shelter to… Whatever fate has in store for them.

As far as projects go, the fluff sanctuary in the works of my story is going to made primarily of fluffies adopted or donated from other users. Some fresh OCs and some retired that the original creator didn’t want to do anything else with but still wanted to see them in stories. Just my way of having a fun little connected collective.

Yeah sadly thats always the case.
Though i wasn’t really advocating a rigid universe.
More like these things can pop up anywhere, like abusementparks

Like the early days of the marvel universe, characters and concepts can pop up and be shared between creators.
Concepts mostly off course.
And people can always opt out.

I like both ideas personally.
But maybe that’s something for November ?

I’d go for that in a specific setting but not in general. Given there are multiverse and meta-capable characters in some fictions just saying “here’s a weekend with this seed of an idea and concept, let’s start here for only here” might work. Making it clear it has its own Canon versus being THE Canon.
