Aaaaw

I’d be concerned about developmental issues, but I set my stuff in a present-day type setting, not a cyberpunk one with sci-fi medicine like you

plus the fluffies on my headcanon heal faster than usual (which explains how fixer can do whole body surgeries in weeks instead of months lol)

Thank god for Booperino, bringing balance of the daily trend with his hugbox. You are doing some heavy lifting for the rest of us.

Came up with it a couple days ago but it really has become my mantra “There is no guarantee there will be more tomorrow, there is no guarantee there will be a tomorrow.”

Little foal is making the most of each day.

Yeah, he’s going to be real screwed up. Probably shrimpy and a little extra dumb from being starved while growing. And probably having a lot of emotional issues about food security and abandonment.

Short term malnutrition normally only has impact on growth. The body tends to sacrifice itself for the sake of the brain. I doubt there would be any lasting damage that would put the fluffy out of the “normal” range in the end.

I’d say the fast healing is part of the general lore, it’s the only way they could survive the injuries they take.

Based purely on observation (reading lots of fluffy stories), I would say fluffies have several unusual physical traits that allow them to survive injuries that would kill other mammals:

Fast clotting, fluffies rarely bleed to death despite massive trauma

Immune to shock. Shock is the most dangerous aspect of trauma. Fluffies are also much less likely to pass out when injured. Good for escaping a threat, bad when being tortured.

Rapid healing.

As a result, fluffies are paradoxically both easy and hard to kill. Much like zombies, you need to be sure to “double tap” when killing fluffies, because a wounded fluffy is likely to survive.

havent thought of one, im open to suggestions lol

that does make sense, i mean its rare to see fluffys having their limbs removed and not just pass out

It may be a bit on the nose but…

Thanks for this, I needed it. Just need some hugbox to balance my life out.

That reminds me, the flip side is that fluffies’ musculoskeletal system is much frailer than would be expected. Sort of like how baboons are much stronger than humans because their muscle fibres are different, but in reverse. As a result, fluffies are physically weak and prone to injury simply from day to day activities.

In particular, the muscles and ligaments in fluffy limbs are easily severed, making amputation trivial.

This weakness was almost certainly deliberate, in that Hasbio didn’t want their biotoys to be able to hurt anyone. The limb removal was an unplanned side effect.

While fluffies are still living animals, their unique physiology does reflect Hasbio’s attempt to make organic machines. (C.f. my essays “Fluffies: the anti plague rat” and “Living Garbage Disposals: the ramarkable fluffy digestive system.”

Fluffy level genetic engineering is already Sci fi though

True! But there’s different levels of it too. The tech in cyberpunk isn’t the same as Star Trek: The Next Generation. Or Star Wars. I mean, hell, they’re already doing experiments with genetics and animals. Fluffies are more near future than what @Booperino is doing.

I wouldn’t say so. There are good quality human prosthetic limbs that respond like normal limbs right now, they’re just expensive. I’d imagine Making the jump to another species would be relatively simple

The closest thing we have to fluffies are glow in the dark goldfish.
