[Greetings and salutations, author here. Came across the Fluffy Pony lore while browsing tvtropes and being familiar with touhou’s yukkuris the concept of abusing cute fluffy ponies was easy enough to grasp. So have some in-character writing in the style of old ask blogs. This is tagged as neutralbox because as much as things are gonna be hugbox around here, this is about a sanctuary, the topic of abuse and abused fluffies will be present.]
Um uh, hi hello. Not entirely sure how to do this but the Bosslady told me that talking about what we do might be a good idea to help spread awareness so here I am.
Hi, call me Birb. I’m a volunteer at a non-profit fluffy sanctuary. Not gonna dox the place but if you’ve heard of Minty’s Rest Sanctuary you’ve likely heard of us. We function just like an animal sanctuary, just for fluffies instead of animals.
We take in the fluffies that others either don’t want, don’t have the resources to take care of and or otherwise can’t be rehomed. Feel free to ask me anything, I’m currently on break so I have time to spare.
So, from my understanding, there are three kinds of major disabilities fluffies can be born with—”Sensitive Baby Syndrome”, where their brains don’t develop past a chirpy stage, “Forever Foal Syndrome”, where their bodies don’t develop beyond a foal stage, and “Derped Syndrome”, where they’re just kind of slow and particularly dumb. How often would you say you see each of these? Are there any fluffies of these kinds that are particularly notable? How do you take care of each of them differently?
Currently we’ve got five like what you’re describing. I’d say we see about a dozen of them a year, with care depending on what it is they need.
Sensitive babies are taken care of like foals. We communicate with forever foals like they’re full grown fluffies but we’re very careful in handling them since they’re the size of foals. Derps are treated case by case, but generally we care for them like sensitive babies.
We had a forever foal named Suds who was the fluffy version of an endangered animal ambassador but he passed away back in September.
Yeah we’ve got a few pegasi. Poor things sadly don’t realize they can’t actually fly but damn if they don’t try anyway.
A fun solution some of us have come up with is picking them up and running around. Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a bad day when you see a middle aged man sprinting down a hall making airplane noises holding a fluffy over his head?
