On your way home from work you stop by fluffy mart to buy more kibble
As you exit the store
you hear the sound of rustling coming from a trash can
you walk over and look down to see a little baby puke green unicorn foal with a safety orange mane
You pick the foal up and clean her up with the extra baby wipes in your backpack
It’s only then you notice that her eyes are already open
And she is drooling non stop
“I see what’s happened here”
You take the poor creature home with you
Feeding her using the pacifier feeding rig you developed for Trantor
Is the easiest way because holly is out of milk at the moment
You decide on calling her Jaingo
As Jaingo suckles on the pacifier
You take a moment to think about what you are going to do with her
It’s not that you don’t have room for her
It’s the fact that Odis is technically more cognitive than her and even he requires 24/7 care
Jaingo hasn’t made a single peep or chirp since you found her
Jaingo is capable of standing and drooling but not much else
She knows you are there
Her eyes follow your every movement
As she suckles milk from the pacifier rig
You remove the pacifier from her mouth and she continues suckling the air for a few moments before stopping after realizing she’s no longer getting milk
You gently pet her main which is most just peach fuzz just like Odis
Jaingo taps her little hooves
You stop petting her not knowing if the tapping was a sign of happiness or distress
Jaingo stops tapping her hooves about 5 seconds later
“Sensory delay”
Little Jaingo was worse off than you originally thought
You call up Zoey and ask if she could look after Odis for about a month until you can get Jaingo’s care sorted out
“Why not let me look after Jaingo instead?”
“Are you sure that won’t be too much of a hassle?”
“I’ve dealt with cases like Jaingo’s in the past”
You felt awful for dumping Jaingo off on another person.
Jaingo had already been abandoned once before
Even if it was the best thing for her you still felt guilty
“I’m so sorry little one. I don’t hate you
Zoey is going to be a wonderful mom I promise!”
