Yeah it was basically a trust thing, Fixer got some trust issues even before starting his job (and basically sucks when it comes to human interactions) so he always comes as blunt more often than not.
Him asking about the enfie pal subject was more to get a reaction to see if he can find hints to confirm snakefoods assesment.

Maybe very slightly and unconscious, not because he dont trust snake but because snake had poor assesment in the past (in the case of princess, and even then snake learned from that)
He trusts Fluffys more than he trusts people to be fair lol

After all, language evolves, so its no big deal if every author has their own unique fluffy jargon. Why do we need a common base of definitions anyway? Why bother being creative and coming up with a new word for platonic friendship, when one can just take an existing phrase and change its meaning?
Or we could, yāknow, NOT do you any of that. Because its stupid. By this ālogicā, instead of anthros and fuzzies and fluntfys and garden fluffies, they would all just be called āfluffiesā, and readers would just to figure out from context what the hell they the were.
