This one always made me wonder a little bit. On the one hand you can read it like sadbox of a nice guy trying to give his terminally ill pet a nice day before she gets really bad off.
On the other hand he could just be tired of her and leaving her somewhere all day before he takes her to be put down. Or worse than that, just abandoning her at the daycare.
